Hiya ,T in Brisvagas will be able to help more than me as im south ,i know decption bay is nice but has got a few 'dodgy' parts,we were put off by the mud flats rather than sandy beach and the Aussies dont seem to rate it,Mango hill n North Lakes have lots of english people and lots of english type houses(small plots) but dont seem to bad although i believe mango hill is the better of the 2,Scarborough was lovely, fantastic kids beachfront park etc, but i thought a little pricey for us,not sure on the others but T should be on -line soon.

Hi Im living in Warner which isn't too far from the places your looking at I have visited some of them and this is only my opinion. Hope it helps.

Deception bay...some nice areas and some not so nice areas....biggest problem is that is has a stigma attached to it that it can't seem to shift,no matter how much it has developed. I actually meet the Mayor and he is very proud of his local community,he ran a fun day and I meet loads of other familys and there is plenty in the community to keep you busy.

Mango Hill /North Lakes are in the same area.... Mostly new houses and loads of other pommies which can be good if your feeling a bit lonely cause it can be easier to make friends, houses are beautiful and you really get the wow effect when driving round...however sometimes it reminds me of living in a bubble...everyone you meet is english and all the houses are the same...this maybe fantastic for some but for others who came to embrace the aussie lifestyle it might be dissappointing.

Brighton/Margate are part of Redcliffe and I can not recommend it high enough, its really beautiful with lots to do ,near the water and feels like a proper holiday town.loads of different houses and loads of old houses.... I personally did not want to live in an older wooden house that needed renovated and as a result we struggled to find a house in our price range.Again redcliffe has a stigma attached to it that it can't seem to shake off but when you get a chance to visit I bet you will think its lovely even if you choose not to live there.

Scarbourgh is again like redcliffe only expensive...to get a nice house there you need to get your wallet out!!!

Rothwell/kippa ring I dont know much about Ive only been to the shops ..sorry.

Thats me off now.

Smile Thanks

Thanks guys - that was really helpful!

Pretty much confirmed what I thought, which is good to know (although didnt know about the mud flaps - strike that one off the list)

I'm just chomping at the bit to get over there and start looking around.

Thanks for your help

Sorry to hijack your thread, but how far is North Lakes from Brisbane CBD? Are there any train stations around there?

Hi its about a 45 min drive in rush hour traffic.

There isn't a train line from there but you can drive/bus to petrie(about 10 min away) and get the train from there.

I know a lot of people who travel from north lakes to city so travel must be reasonable.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I'm drawn to the newer houses. Are there any area similar to North Lakes, but which are closer to the CBD?

Hi ...how long were you want to travel?? New houses are popping up all over the place...we lived in Everton park for a while and new developments were popping up. Also Mcdowall Eaton hills and Alany creek have some really nice new estates all 25/30 min from CBD. If you want to live in the city they are some really nice areas but very expensive.

30 mins or less by car/train or ferry. Have a budget of about 600-800k. Thanks for your help.
