where to live?
Hi, Hoping to move this time next year and want to live somewhere between Surfers area and Brisbane. Maybe the Hinterland (but near to highway), Any ideas where to go? We have 2 teenage boys and need to be near a hospital for my job. This is the scariest part for me. What if we choose to live somewhere and then don't like it? Don't want to be near drugs, vandals etc.
Hi Mandy, just thought I would drop you a note, I live the North side of Brisbane, Redcliffe, it's 30 mins from Brisbane CBD via car or train. There are loads of Hospitals in and around Brisbane, there is one in Redcliffe, Caboulture, etc, we like the Redcliffe area, it's on the coast and it's only 45 minutes away from some great beaches (surf) Mooloolaba, Coloundra, Kings Beach Alexandra heads, there are many more, we think it's nicer than the Gold Coast (surfers) less people, less drugs and trouble etc, it's a quiet place, we have kids 10 and 11, they have settled well in the 5 months we have been here and don't want to go back to England, I think the houses are a little cheaper on the northern side too, they are a little more expensive aroung the Gold Coast area. There is also the free lagoon in Redcliffe, a lot of kids head down ther to meet up, I am sure the kids will love it, hope this helps, good luck to you, it will be a good move I am sure.

thanks for that. don't you think it's a bit of a nightmare trying to decide where to live? there are loads of great places, but so many things to consider. probably being too cautious, but it is the biggest thing i have ever done in my life!

Yes It is a pain choosing but you have got to think about everything you need to be near, schools, shops, the sea etc, there are lots of nice places thats why it's so hard to choose, I can say we live in Rothwell and it's great, quiet, not to far from anything, love it, good luck and happy searching
king kenny hello,we were looking into the sunshine coast area to live but you have drawn my eye to the area where you live,we have 3 children (16,6,1)would this area suit them, how far are you from a university?cheers

We moved here last may, cant beleive its a year already. we chose Robina as its very central to schools, shops, golf courses, train line and 10 mins drive from beach. has a great anglican church too. no vandals, but.... next door is varsity lakes, a brand new housing community next to bond university, housing all looks very nice, it is however a magnet for the student community and although we live backing onto a lovely golf course we can hear the "hoons" in their souped up cars the other side of the fairway which is varsity. Maybe we are being pommie snobs, but we would not recommend being too close to Varsity. we are selling and moving to the nsw/qld border to a house 700mtrs from the beach, central gold coast has proved too busy/noisy for us so we are moving 20km south, still have the amenities of the gold coast but a little quieter. good luck with your move. Dawn
Dawn again, you might like to consider Tweed and its surrounds as there is a hospital there. New bypass will be completed early 2008 so you will be able to do Brisbane in just over the hour and Central Gold Coast in 20 mins. Its only 10 mins to Coolangatta airport which serves all of autralia and is looking to expand to inter continental. D

To get to the Uni it will be best to go via train and it is 10 - 15 to the station and 30 mins to the city so about 45 mins in total. The train service is very good. The kids would be fine in this area, lots of young families in the Redcliffe area, all the best Shane
