Smile Gold Coast & Pacific Pines

Hiya

We came back from Australia yesterday and stayed on the Gold Coast. We looked at the Pacific Pines area and whilst it is really nice it is basically just a massive sprawling housing estate. It has been established for about 10 years and the houses towards the back of the development are going for about £250k or less for a 4 bedroom detached in a very modern style. Land is going really quickly but they are releasing more plots in the next year. The schools look good, all new but it was half term when we visited and we couldnt get a decent look.

We also looked at Coomera which is a new town beign developed north of Pacific Pines. I would really recommend that you take a look here. There are a number of developers and this area is getting some serious investment with new town centers and railway stations etc. It is also nearer to the coast.

Your best bet is to be prepared to drive round and come off the M1 motorway junctions as there is nearly a building site and land for sale at every one!

My husband is also a joiner and we were buying the Gold Coast papers. One day alone there were 21 adverts for Joiners and we stopped at some sites and it appears that they are paying anything between $30-40 per hour.

We didnt want to come home. Skills assessment is going in next week and its all systems go!:

Hi ya to all on here and a big welcome to Oscars Mum!
Post away to your hearts content and peeps on here will always help.

We are heading to Gold Coast in Jan, visa was granted last week but have few things to sort before going plus daughters 21st in Dec which she wants to celebrate with her friends here which is understandable.
We was thinking bout Pacific Pines too but the post bout Coomera sounds really interesting. We are heading out there in Nov to validate visas and do a recce, line up rental ready for Jan etc hopfully.
We need to be within reasonable travelling distance of Burleigh Heads, Southport and Sth Brissie for various unis, colleges and TAFE so any advice would be welcome from us too.

i agree with the last post, pacific pines is a huge housing estate, some bits of it are better than others, lots of first time buyers and young families. Its considered North Gold Coast, and much cheaper than some of the more central areas like Mermaid Waters, personally I prefer the Southern end, Burleigh, Currumbin and Coolangatta, but we like the ocean and the beachy lifesyle, we are prepared to comprimise on not having a huge shopping mall on our door step, depends what you want from life I suppose. If you like pacific pines type houses, but fancy something a little smaller The Observatory development at Reedy Creek is well worth a look. Very close to some excellent private schools, Somerset College, Kings college and Hillcrest, so resale prices should be better too as a long term investment. Good Luck Dawn
