Any bad/rough areas in Brisbane?

1/ Hi me and the wife are looking at alot of alternatives of areas - Brisbane - Melbourne - Adelaide but i think Brisbane is coming out pretty good so i was just wondering if theres any bad areas we have to steer clear from.
2/ How far away do you have to go before you feel isolated as we are looking at land and house at around $350000. shes a nurse but i`m a project engineer, so are there jobs for that sort of thing out of the CRB.
3/ Football for a 13 yr old Whos pretty good i think.
4 Gymnastics for a 10yr old girl.

Google Earth shows new builds right out of brisbane centre area so i am wondering would there be things to do! and is Brisbane easy to get to from that far out as Coomera QLD.?

Its hard to understand how remote anything is until you actually see it ,people say to me 'gosh your out in the sticks' when we explain were we live but in reality we are far from the sticks, have our own schools, shops and sports clubs, the new estates are great and give you a homely feel ,you are also likely to find fellow poms. The only areas i was told to avoid when looking were,Kingston and Logan Central and after checking them i agree it isnt somewere i would want my family to live ,other than them everywere seems pretty ok,,good luck its a tough job

Just noticed you are from the Boro!!!! We spent 13 months living in Hurworth and got back last August. My boy had trials at Boro and Sunderland and is now at the Queensland Academy of sport for football.

Hi its great to hear a post which is close to my heart. (got a caravan in Hurworth)
My son has been scouted for Hartlepool and Premiership Middlesbrough but was told he needed to put a bit of beef on - but skill wise he made the grade. (a skinny 12 yr old). Yes i am worried that there wasnt any "soccer" to a good standard and have an infastructure of a Junior league.

I would like to take you up on more info on the football situation if you could i would most appreciate it.

Thanks everyone for the areas where not to go. So its not that bad if i went well away from the CRB - the football (soccer) still would be there for him!
But what about Gymnastics? for my 8yr old daughter. Cant leave her out!!!!!

They have a good club and rep set up in Brisbane which is just undergoing a huge change.. The Queensland Academy of sport is the Elite program ( the same as the premiership academies ) and the boys get identified through the rep system. It's an U15 set up at the moment and is a nursey for the Australian U17 and U19 squads

Football ( soccer ) is one of the most played sports for U13's in Queensland ( not sure about Australia ) but the kids tend to drop out around 15 to play other sports or concentrate on school. If he goes through the right club and gets in a rep side he should be ok. There are a couple of schools in Brisbane that offer a soccer excellence program so they do football as a subject. My son has been in one of these programs for the last 5 years and thats how he got his trials in the UK. If he is good enough he can trial for the Queensland Academy of Sport and they have a fantastic program which leads to the Australian Institute of Sport and the A League ( our football league ):D
