Carpenters on the Sunshine Coast ?

Hi there, we re looking to move to the Caloundra area in October time this year. I was just wondering, will it be quite easy for my husband to pick up work on the sunshine coast, or will he have to commute into Brisbane, hes a Carpenter, hence the title :-)

We really want to live in Caloundra ( ish ) ara, so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi we have just come back from the Gold Coast and from looking at the local papers that we were buying daily there is plenty of work. My husband drove around lots of sites and they desperately need carpenters. One day alone there were 21 jobs for carpenters. It appears that you either base yourself north or south of Brisbane and there is work either side. The adverts list "Northside" or "Southside" and each seem to have equal amounts of work. They were advertising at $20-30 per hour. Hope this helps.

Hiya

I must admit I feel much better after going out there, especially as we are trying to go out there with only one of us working initially. We wanted to stay out there and not come back! We are putting in our skills application next week and will be keeping our fingers crossed. We met up with someone over there who has appeared on both this site and Poms in Brisbane called Mark, he was really helpful and reassuring seeing someone else has been able to go out there and set up. It does appear that you need licenses for quite a few things but we will cross that bridge when we get there. Good luck!
