Hiya Claire
Have you looked at this link below - it gives you loads of info on migrating to Oz, including the medical bits too!
http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/index.htm
We used an agent, it was peace of mind and we did'nt have time on our side (as OH is 44 and cut off is 45) but it's a matter of preferance really.
Do you know what type of visa you will be applying for or what trade, are you a student???

If you tell us "nosey parkers" more, then im sure someone will be able to help you with ALL you questions....... this is a great site with great people !!!! :)

Hi thanks for the friendly reply its nice to know there are others out there all making the same journey we are applying for a skilled visa as hubby is a carpenter but all ready his worried if theres work out there for him from what i gather the visas can take up 2yrs so we have a long wait ahead, our boys are 6 and 10 and hoping there still will be football out there as they are football mad, are the medicals a big deal or just straight forward also we want to bring our dogs with us so any advise on that would be great thanks claire

Hiya we had an agent do the papperwork ,it made it a little less stressful having someone literallly tell you what to write in your references etc ,we used Visa Bureau and cannot fault them, the medicals arent much and if you are pretty fit and healthy you shouldnt have a problem ,our visa took 8mth start to finish and was well worth it ,,we love brisbane and would never go back to the uk ,,good luck

hiya we used the visa bureau our case worker was lauren mennie she was fantastic she helped us no end and answered all our questions yeah you have to pay for it an there is still loads of paperwork but knowing that someone will help you and answer any queries helps a little with the stress of it all.
also know that we have had the visa granted we are still stressing an probably will be until we arrive on ozzie soil
our advice is to get an agent

We never used an agent as such when we were planning our move. I was being sponsored through MSSA/Nurseworldwide - a nursing agency in London so they literally took on the agency role. I could ring them at any time and ask them anything. I had an allocated `officer` with MSSA and it was a massive help.

My parents are using an agent = purely as not to waste time and having documetns flying back and forth for the sake of 1 missed signiture!

Best advice I can give is do all the forms in pencil, see what you know and what you dont know. That will give you a rough idea of if you need assistance. Some people find the paperwork a bereze....some people dont. the paperowrk didnt bother me - i just got fed up at the amount of it and the repetition of sending things to 15 places!!!!

Its a long process which will always feel like it is never ending but when you get an email that sayd CONGRATULATIONS, your visa has been approved! That will make up for everything else!!!! Trust me on that one!

Good luck with everything!
