We have noticed a few postings on this area of the Gold Coast. Is it a good place to live? It is within our price range and on the map looks like a good location but what is it like to actually live there???? Are the schools good? Is the beach easily accesible? Any decent parks/places we can cycle? Are there things to do??? We have 2 kids (4 and 7) so need a good family area. Many thanks for any advice you can give us.

Hi Lynne and Mark we also have been looking at pacific pines,we went to an emigrate show on sat at sandown and spoke to a guy that actually lives there,we said to him we had been looking at pacific pines and mudgeeraba,he said pacific pines is the better place for young children good schools and parks, mudgeeraba is more expensive,he emigrated out to oz 5yrs ago and loves where he lives.I know the beach is about 10mins from mudgeeraba so it shouldnt be too far from pacific pines, sorry i havent really got much info Helen
Thanks Helen. We also thought of going to Sandown as we only live down the road but it seemed quite general so we are going to the one on the 25th in Earls Court instead. Our visas came through last week so we are hoping there are some employment agencies/shipment companies etc so we can really get organised. I was wondering whether Pacific Pines was like the 'North Lakes' of the Gold Coast, as in big new self contained development!!! Haven't even heard of Mudgeeraba so will check it out later.Decisions, decisions.
we are looking at pacific pines too - me,oh and 4 kids under 10 so if we all move there then at least there will be some families for definate!!
i have a friend about 5 mins from p.pines who assures me good family area and nice housing.takes about just over 1 and 1/4 to brisbane by train if commuting for work. quicker by car but train gets rid of parking problems. don't know about good for cycles but hope this is a little bit more info for u. its so hard trying to choose a location. just hope we can choose an area that has good schools but also clubs and sports activities for kids and not just new houses. anyway gd luck

Hi, the expo is a skills expo, we got an email about it. Check out the link www.expo-australia.com It's in the Ibis hotel in Earls court 24th/25th March. Don't know if it will be any good but we reckon its worth a try. We have a 136 skills visa and it took 8 months despite being on the MODL list!! We never actually got a case officer , just a request for meds and police checks then an email 8 weeks later to say the visas had been granted. We did it all ourselves -TRA and the actual visa application. Mark is an electrician and I am a teacher but we went in on his skills as they gave more points. Good Luck , Lynne

Hi everybody,
We live in Pacific Pines right now,its great. Full on for famillies and only 15 mins from the beach.
New pub,new parks,new houses,been here 10 months new life.
Mark,Ju,Harry(5) Ella(3 going on 13)
We have been on Pacific Pines a few years now, it is a good area for families with everything closeby. Pac Pines has lots of open space & lots of activities for the kids, cricket, soccer, AFL etc. There is also a local pub/tavern & a local supermarket & takeaways as well as parks & a skatepark. The new Westfield Shopping centre was recently completed which is pretty big & only 5 minutes away.
The motorway is closeby too & the train station is @7 minutes away, I used to commute to the city & it takes @1hr but the train infrastructure is pretty stretched so your not guaranteed to get a seat at peak times!
The Pacific Pines schools also have good reputations & you have to be on Pacific Pines to get your kids in otherwise there is no chance. There is also a private school here called Jubilee. You are probably 20 mins from the beach at Surfers & 30 minutes from Tambourine Village in the Hinterland.
They also have movies on the park & Farmers market every few weeks or so.
