hello all, fairly new to the site. having passed my tra (electrician) and visa application in process have a few questions people may be able to help with.
we (wife & three daughters aged 1, 2, 3. yes i know but its not that bad !!) currently live in an oxfordshire market town, looking to move to south east qld. dont want to live in brisbane but would like to be close enough to use the facilitys every now and then. we fancy north of brisbane as its the gate way to the sunshine coast (visited qld 2000 and prefered sunshine coast over other places). has any one suggestions for places we can research that fit the above and also schools for the kids and work for myself. i have found the cabooltureshire web site and this area looks great. any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also have people got information about shipping your stuff to Aus anyone packed it themselves ....been told can be held up in customs......any info would be appreciated.
Would like good and bad on Caboolture area also what about deception bay

Hi we live not far from deception bay having arrived in Oct and the person who picked us up from the airport said to stay away as this was a BAD area,we also heard the same about caboolture and redcliffe...however .... after visiting all areas I can honestly say I would live in all the suburbs(especially redcliffe).
The thing is a Bad area here is not the same as a bad area in the UK so its very hard to judge.
There are plenty of nice places to live north brisbane with masses of building work. Alot of Uk people have settled in North Lakes wich is close to deception bay,they have built a new community with schools ,shops, bike paths ,parks ect... it's beautiful and the house prices are reasonable (but climbing steadily),its a very nice place to raise a family.
As for shipping we didn't pack it ourselves but it still costs the same amount of money and we too were told it may hold it up at customs.

Thanks for that. Dont want to labour the point but what do they mean about Bad i.e. not good for facilities etc or loads of crims that sort of thing,,,,,what was Deception Bay like and Bribie Island the house prices there seem very reasonable.....any other places you could recommend going further north
