Brisbane areas- newer estates.

Hi all,

We are heading to Brisbane for a holiday in May. We wouldn't mind looking around at a few neighborhoods to see if it is any better than Sydney.

We need to be as close to the CBD or near to quick transport links to the city. We like the newer type of houses/estates. Schools, nice areas are important. We have a budget of upto $800k.

Thanks for your help,

Jay

Hiya ,there are loads of these estates all over Brisbane ,if you go to the realestate.com website and click 'New land packages or land estates it will give you a big list of the estates in different areas of Brisbane. We are south Brisbane and are there alot around here ,all within 30-45min drive of the CBD.The main ones seem to be Springfield Lakes,Flagstone estate(we live here& love it)Teviot Downs,Spring mountain,New Beith Estate,Forest lakes, the list is endless.Lots of these estates are very similar to the uk in that theres loads of houses with little room outside but a few do offer acerage like teviot downs and flagstone. To my knowledge the only ones with their own schools and shops this area of Brisbane are Springfield lakes and Flagstone estate, you also find lots of fellow poms around these estates,,if you need any more help ill try my best

Thanks for your help. What is the best area, which is nearest to the city in your honest opinion? Probably use the train as parking is probably expensive and difficult in town? Thanks

Hiya im biased towards Flagstone we love it here and theres os much developing ,they reakon it will house 50,000 people when finished and have a hospital, uni and train station. Most areas are lovely ,i personally would avoid Kingston,Logan,Marsden and surroniding areas ,some of these places have a higher crime rate and some are very industrial, hope this helps a little ,i know how hard it is when you cant visit the places first.

Nearest train station is Oxley which is to be honest a car ride away (i have no idea what the buses are like to there) . We are 12 kilometers from the CBD by car.

Sorry for asking you all the questions but:

1). How long is the car journey to the station?

2). How long is the car journey to the city in peak hours. Is parking difficult in the CBD?

Cheers

Jay

No worries mate!

1) probably 10 minutes max

2) Anything from 20 -60 mins depending on traffic and which way on you go. Parking I have always found is ok in the CBD but then I only park there for short stay for shopping
