Can anyone tell us what this area is like,my wife hopefully attending college here for 2 years, and taking the kids 6 and 3.We have read lots about the area ,but nice to here from someone who lives,or has been to this area. What is the schools like, genaral work situation,as my wife and l will only be able to work 20hrs a week on are visa.We both don't mind what we do,as long as it pays a few bills.
Thanks
Nigel
Mooloolaba is bloomin gorgeous!!!!! Very clean, houses on the river which is a walk away from the beach..We spent a few days in Mooloolaba one of them being New Years Eve...We spent the day on the beach, and then in the evening there was a live band that was situated at the LOO WITH A VIEW!!!!..It was a fantastic experience to watch our daughter dancing to the band on the shore line...They had 2 firework displays..1 at 9pm for the families and then another at midnight..All day long there was no alcohol allowed on the beach, with police cordoning off the area and checking everyones bags...
The beach is clean, with barbecue areas, and showers...The houses are out of this world and alas a little to pricey at the mo for us, but eventually we do want to live there..as you drive along the beach to Maroochydore the sea gets a little choppier, and the beach rockier but the surfers like to go to that part and it was great to watch them...Maroochydore is more or less the same as Moololaba but it is busier..There is a huge shopping centre (air conditioned)..Our 17 year old son was 15 when we went and he said it was paradise, his favourite place in the whole world and he still says the same...Thats just our view and couldnt tell you about work, schools etc but definately a place worth looking at :)
The kids want to live there because when we were on the beach, a group of school children came onto the beach with their teacher and were learning about the surf and water safety.
Now my girls think this is what you do all day when you go to school there. LOL.
It was somewhere that we could walk around in the evening and feel no threat, everybody was friendly but it also had places that you could find work, not just a holiday town !
I loved the mooloolaba area and sunshine coast in general. My only concern is the work situation not sure how much work in heating and ventilation welding on large builds such as schools and hospitals.
We quite liked Beerwah I know thats where you are looking at Jo have you any info you can give school looks good, football team is doing well and swimming clubs near by so kids are sorted.
What about work not sure what line of work you are in.
On Mooloolaba sea front is a fantastic ice cream shop cant walk past there without having a cone or two or three.
Mountain Creek and Buderim are popular places as well it seems short drive from Malooloolaba they look really nice.
Beaches are really stunning it really is ideallic Australian lifestyle with a bit of everything.
Don't know if you are referring to us as 8788jt and I are both called Jo :)
Beerwah!!!! Oh Beerwah is just gorgeous, It is a quiet little town but close to the Bruce Highway and halfway between Caboolture and Mooloolaba
It is nestled in the Glasshouse Mountains, and is so picturesque..We never stayed there as Pauls mum is just outside in Woodford but we drove thru and stopped plenty of times..Apparently it is an up and coming town with lots of new housing projects underway...And of course the zoo!!!! We have already been in touch with the headmaster of the school and he has been lovely..We have only exchanged emails but he has said that as soon as we arrive he would have a space for Charlie to attend..
Pauls brother moved over in 2003 and they bought land and built their house in D'Aigular, but we spoke to him only yesterday and they are too looking at moving to Beerwah as it is a little closer to the beach and the highway..
Paul is in the building trade and although a qualified electrician his main field of work has been plastering and he enjoys this more, cant help on the work front for you as not sure but every company that Paul has spoken with has asked him to go see them upon arrival in Oz...Paul does have a job lined up in plastering when he gets there but will definately be looking at other companies...
I know we must have had ice cream whilst there but also the pizza place right opposite the "LOO WITH A VIEW" is yummy too :)
Thanks for the reply how old are your kids mine are 13 and 11 I think there is enough for them to do judging by the size of soome of the gardens they can make their own fun.
We went up to the zoo we were there a week before Steve Irwin died I got talking to a lady from Adelaide who was so excited as she thought he might be there that day, very sad for all in Beerwah and Australia when that happened.
What a sad time it must have been, But he will live on thru his work and his wonderful family :) The zoo is a fantastic place and do urge anyone to visit it if ever they are in the area...
Our kids are 15 and 12. but only just as they had their birthdays in Jan..
Does this mean that when we move to Australia that we will have our first set of friends??? sure hope so...we are hping now to go in July, all being well with the visa, as Charlie is in year 10 and we figured it may be best for him to finish his first year of coursework
Hope so I suppose when you move half way around the world you need all the friends you can get will keep the beer chilling or you whoever gets there first.
We hope to be there maybe a couple of months behind you fingers crossed nothing keeping us here my family cant wait for us to leave. they cant wait some have even started pricing flights
Hi, ive been logging into this site for a while, but this is the first time ive posted a reply. I felt like I didnt want to jinx things as i hadnt yet sent application. Subclass 136 application finally sent 08/02/07. I was really pleased to read your comments on moololaba as this is the area that I have been really drawn to, it seems to have everything typical ozzy life and yet not too far from Brisbane. All of the sunshine coast sounds really good for eg caloundra, noosa. Although Im saying all this I havent even been to Australia but I am constantly on the internet as im sure everyone else is.
Did you go to Mudjimba this also sounds like a nice place and there are a few new housing developments their. Also has anyone been to Sippy Downs which is near to buderim as this has a new housing development called chancellor park which looks a good place for families and not to far from mooloolaba?.
By the way I am aged 34 husband also 34 we have two children a girl aged 4 and a boy aged 3 :D What a great site!
