Hiya i havnt seen any tornadoes but we have pretty bad storms ,last week we had one that blew some of the massive trees over and one took the electric cables with it ,hence road closed and no power for a few hours, the thunder and lightening is unreal and it makes uk storms look like toys We have also been told to watch for greeny coloured skys as these are the sign of a hail storm ,the hail is apparantly so big it will damage your car,if they think a storm is on the way its normally broadcast on radio and everyone is advised not to go out or drive unless necessary, the tornadoes so far have stayed pretty much up North Mackay upwards i think ,hope this helps

saw you on tv today, your famous now. very good viewing, the place you were at was pretty remote, did you find somewhere nice to live in the end, are you near the beach? looked great there!! At the moment it is snowing here and cold, very jealous!! Never mind i am hoping to live there one day
just nice to try something different in life, after been in england 40 years.
We are thinking of going somewhere outside of Brisbane, somewhere where we can drive to beach and not too close to the city.
Any way thanks for telling me about the weather. Julia and Tony North East

The BBC put us up in Chapel Hill brisbane centre but we didnt like it too much ,although the house was lovely .We wanted a bit more space and less traffic!!! we settled here in Jimboomba which is borderline with Beaudesertshire and i dont think we could have picked a better place ,it gets better by the day.We have bought a house on 2 acres for the same money as we sold our 3 bed semi in the uk and we are only 35 min to beach and about 35/40 min to the CBD ,but never had to go there since we arrived as everything we want or need is within easy reach ,i do feel sorry for people who drive there every day ,,nightmare ,,

Jimboomba looks great, I hear they are building there. How are the prices for a 4 by 2 on a decent size plot?

Hiya ,,we love Jimboomba ,everyone we could want without being too big. They are building an extra shoppin centre ,i believe we are having Coles as well as the Woolys we got plus some other shops, the population has grown drasticaly over the last 12mth and expected to continue for another 12/18 mth.We have just bought a 4bed on 2acres with above ground pool for $325,000 (130,000gbp) this is about average for this area ,you can get property slightly cheaper if you go away from Flagstone were its abit more rural ,but we wanted the kids to be near friends so settled for a happy medium ,hope this helps

Hi CalNgary,
Thanks for your kind reply the other night shortly after I had joined the forum. I was so excited when I logged back on & someone had actually replied. Saw your 'Wanted Down Under' programme yesterday. It was lovely to see you all having read your very positive postings in the forum over the past few months. Glad everything worked out for you both & your two lovely children. Did Cal get that stress free job !!!
Regards, Wee Wen

I'll be working all over the North Gold Coast, is Jimboomba a realistic commute do you think?

That's not bad at all, we have never visited the Gold Coast. Some say surfers etc is too commercial (?), how would you rate it against more secluded and less developed beaches/areas?
Do you have any websites to the developments in Jimboomba? Or builders/land/house packages etc?
