Firstly Gial I suggest you change your name to something more masculine, then you will need a Blue Card I hear day rates are about 280 bucks a day but price work is better .. here is a copy of an email i recieved from a mate in Sydney:

Dear Mark and Family,

well mate, just thought i would let you know the crack over here now. they
are crying out for Bricklayers in Perth and Brisbane, and some in Sydney.
companies are paying $750 a thousand in Brisbane and $1040 in Perth, that's
****ing good money mate.

You wont have any trouble getting a job or staring your own company, you
could even apply for a business visa.

been to Brisbane this weekend to visit my dads mate who is a bricklayer and
would get you a job no trouble. and i think brisbane is nicer than Sydney
mate, and houses are so cheap its unbelievable.

also a good mate in Perth is looking for Bricklayers, can't get them.

anyway take care and talk to ya soon.

Gleny.

hello cheryl, sorry cant help with the joinery questions, but its pretty easy to google search jobs in oz, aldo is on the gold coast, maybe he can help, i doubt your partner will want to retrain as a bricky, besides it will take a good few years for him to get anyways profficient, and there is no such thing as an electric trowel either!but seriously i would guess a joiners pay is roughly similar, good luck anyway

Hi everybody, my names wayne and i am a chippy, just got my vetassess papers back all passed so the visa is going tomorrow. We are looking to move to the sunshine coast region, is there enough work there and if so is it better on price ? do you need a different card to be self employed ?
We are from somerset(originally bristol) and are coming over in jan for 2 weeks for a reccie. any tips would be great !!
