HELP!

Hi!
Just booked our flights for a fact finding trip - arriving in Brisbane 18th August for only 2 weeks!! Does anyone know a good base for us to stay? We're interested to look around the sunshine coast and gold coast and don't mind moving around. We're going to hire a car so if anyone knows a good company to use please let me know!
Cheers!
Jo x :D

Hi there seems like you going to be very tired doing all that in two weeks, you may be best staying in the city as this is in the middle of the two, from Brisbane city it is around 2 hours drive to the gold coast and smae to the sunshine.

Some of the cheaper hotels the best deals are the comfort inns as they do have family rooms etc and can be found on google.

As for car hire i always use Budget as seems to be quite cheap !!!

Hi

We are arriving in Brisbane on 14/05 and will be living on the Gold Coast not sure where as yet.

We have already hired a car from a company called Vroom,Vroom, Vroom (can you believe the name). Good rate for a week's car hire and did not have to retrun to pick up point as could return the car on the Gold Coast.

Will send you a post after that date and let you now how good they were and details of places to stay on the Gold Coast.

We hope to be more settled by then, so if you like, we could arrange to meet. Hubby is an Australian Citizen (although originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne) lived in Adelaide for 15 years and can't wait to return.

If you need any advise, he is always on hand to help.

Josehine

HI Jo

what a coincidence sounds exactly like our trip last August. We to Brisbane
last year on that date and spent 2 weeks we based ourselves in Cleveland about 40 mins sotheast of Brisabne on the way to Gold coast.

we went down to the gold coast had drive down stopped in surfers etc for a couple of hours then contined down to nsw border as far as Kings cliff.

We did sea world on the gold coast as well on another day.

We went to Australia zoo in Beerwah which is on the sunshine coast.

Another day we headed up the sunshine coast had a look round kings beach, Mooloolaba, Mountain Creek and Buderim.

Travelling time is not really that bad once we had cleared Brisbane traffic flows really well.

Some nights we were too tired to go out and just stayed in the motel but otherwise we found we did everything we wanted to do no problem. We even went on the train into Brisbane on the Sunday plenty going on and the lagoon on the riverside is brilliant for the kids while we were there they were building waterslides etc should be ready now.

I am sure you will have a great time.

kaye :D

Hi M, Josephine, Kaye and Cal! :D
Cheers for advice!
Gutted that we can only spend two weeks in QLD but hubby has to be back for work! Feeling guilty as we are leaving our 2 year old with my parents - thought we could do more researching without having to worry about entertaining her (sorry Ruby!).
Thanks again!

We too would have left out the parks but we had 12 and 11 year old with us. Had to do something for them.

Fully understand Kaye!
Keeping the kids entertained is half the battle - although I can't wait to visit the theme parks myself! I'll have to try and resist and experience them when Ruby is with us!
