Sell me Brisbane

Myself, husband (43, a flooring man), and my 2 girls (aged 13 and 12, one team sports mad - football, netball, hockey - and the other a horse fanatic) want to come to Oz. I know loads of you have relocated to QL already, and really need to know if this is the place for us. I want my girls to be able to walk to school (a good one), and be able to knock about with their mates after, in a safe and free way (parents, you know what I mean). Me - I love the sunshine and the beach - and if the ocean's warm and friendly - I'll be a happy girl. Tell me someone - is Queensland the place for us?

Hiya you are definately going the right direction from my point of view.We moved here in november and have settled 35min from Brisbane cbd in an area called Jimboomba on a large estate called Flagstone, there are more kids sports clubs than you could join, football, netball, scouts, pony club, etc ,its horse friendly acreage land and my son can walk to school and back, most of the kids live locally and everyone is so friendly and helpful. We are 35min to Surfers paradise beach and our estate has a few little shops, woolys is 5min away and the big shopping plaza is approx 15min away, from what you say you are wanting you really need to check out this up and coming area,so many people are moving around here and lots are poms ,feel free to pm me for further info,,

We opted against Brisbane due to the high humidy - the very thought of doing a manual job in such high humidity put hubby right off!

Check out the meteorology departments website http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/climat...ps_newlook.cgi

It does get humid but we havnt come across anything unbearable yet ,you tend to find people work from early in the morning and finish afternoon-ish ,you do have to adjust slightly but nothing major ,if anything we worried about our 3yr old and she isnt bothered at all.Brisbane climate varys in and around brisbane ,Ipswich is only 40 min away but a few degrees hotter ,it really does depend were you go but we find south of CBD fine and not too uncomfortable, and dont forget nearly everywere has air-con! ,hope this helps
