noosa

has anybody been to noosa?we are planning on queensland next year ,we were going to visit first but cant afford that kind of money as it would postpone the big move by a year, you can look at pictures and read things on the net but its not the same as having been there also can anyone tell me any suburbs between brisbane and the sunshine coast worth looking at thanks

sounds great id love to see some pics ,we have a young family and i think that would be a good place to bring them up,where abouts do you live its hard to paint a mental picture of where everything is and also you cannot judge how far one place is from another.when we first started looking where abouts in oz we could live i was sure adelaide was for us even though we havnt visited oz before but now im sure its queensland with the sunshine coast the favourite ,but who knows you change your mind daily one day your upbeat the next you think is this right, thanks for your info

Brighton

Hallo
Brighton is a nice surburb - and the surroundings surburbs, Sandgate, Shorncliffe - by the sea but the beach and sea is more like an English sea - ie murky and brown not the beautiful white sandy beaches and clear sea that you find further up or down the coast (I think it may be because of mud banks) but still good to be "besie the sea". Property is quite pricey in Brighton becase it is near the sea and the quaint, nearly affordable, Queenslander houses are not always great. We are renting in Shorncliffe and it is lovely to be near the sea though I've seen hardly anyone swimming in the sea in this area - if you move a surburb back ie Bracken Ridge you may get a better property at a cheaper rate. We came back from Byron Bay at the weekend and had forgotten how lovely that area was - lovely wooded rolling hills and all looking very green - cooler than Brisbane area too! It's so difficult to know where to go and you don't want to keep uprooting kids but if you want to be near Brisbane then Brighton and surrounding areas are good - nice cycle tracks that run all the way along the sea and good playparks for kids, swimming pool in Sandgate and a few cafes, restaurants along the sea front, old pier and rail station in Sandgate - 30 - 40 mins to the city. Oz is not cheap though!
Good luck
Heather

Tried Eumundi?

Hi Batman, you might want to look up Eumundi as a possible place to go, it's 20mins inland from Noosa, and beautiful, with great markets.
It's one of the places we're thinking of moving to. I'm Australian but living in London with my London-born husband and two children.

This picture was taken in Noosa. The beach was gorgeous, patrolled by life guards and then 2 minutes up the road was Noosa National Park where we saw a wild Koala and first proper spider. The centre had a very cosmopolitan feel and the properties on the drive in were amazing, with the boats moored up. OMG !

The contrasts were amazing and we have some great pictures of skyline and surf.

If you would like to see them, you are more than welcome to PM me and I will email them to you. I can't promise you loads, only have about 10 but the sky's were amazing. If you like that sort of thing which I'm afraid to say I do !

Smile Gorgeous Sunshine Coast!

After reading all the posts I just had to write about how bloomin gorgeous the sunshine coast is! This immi process is soooo long at times and its fantastic to transport yourself back there. I couldnt believe how beautiful the glasshouse mountains are. We stayed in Malaney Aug 06 and I have never felt so peaceful and relaxed in all my life! As a treat we had an evening meal at the Poets Cafe in Montville which sits on the edge of rainforest.
Noosa was very cosmopolitan and expensive! The beach was stunning and the national park was an assault on your senses...wonderful sounds and smells but unfortunately no koalas that day! Saw my first dolphin though!
We are thinking of settling around Maroochydore/Mooloolaba/Coolum/ area although Byron Bay is another possibility...maybe a bit pricey?

If we're talking about places of beauty I'd have to put Montville as my personal favourite. It overlooks the Sunshine Coast (see the opening photo on the Koala Konnection website and also the chapter dedicated to the town at http://www.queensland.me.uk) and the views in any direction are very impressive, to say the least. See what I mean?

Escape off the 'range' (we're 400m above sea-level) and you're spoilt for choice. Noosa is a particular favourite, although a little pricey for most tastes. Mooloolaba is the family favourite I think although Caloundra, where my father lives, has some wonderful beaches.

The trouble with the Sunshine Coast is it feels like you're permanently on holday! I don't know if that's a bad thing...

Paul.

We almost bought a house along Kondalilla Falls Road when we first came out here. The last place on the left as you head down to the car park - the art gallery. Sometimes you have to shake your head and ask yourself how lucky you are to be living here.
