Where to live on the Gold Coast

any suggestions for good areas to settle in the Gold Coast area. Will probably be working near the Gold Coast Hospital and want to commute rather than drive.

it looks like we both now have jobs. I will be working for Gold Coast Water and Liz has a dead cert in terview with a nursing agency when we arrive. The visa is going through now so i expect 10 weeks to lift off. I have been informed (by my new boss) that the best places to rent are North, west and east of nerang. they certainly seem the best price wise.

try this ste for accommodation:

http://www.realestate.com.auhttp://w...lestate.com.au

We are looking at $350/week.

i have pasted a note from my agent.... spread the word!!

Do you know anyone who wants to relocate to Australia for a career opportunity like you? You know the current situation of the tight market. I am still working on this recruitment campaign with GCCC. I am thinking if I can get some referrals from the people I know that would be wonderful.

At this moment, I’m particularly looking for Civil Design Engineer (road, drainage, electrical) and Water/Waste Water Infrastructure Planning Engineers. Do you know any from UK? 5-15 years experience is the best.

good luck, will keep on poms in oz when we get there so keep in touch

we live in Robina, and we find its really central for everything, not sure about rental but you should find some places within your budget.

Thanks for the reply, once we sell our house we'll be over. We have our visa now and only a slow houseing market is holding us back. :(

From everything I can read or hear I guess I will just have to look when I get there. Luckilly we have friends who will put us up in Pacific pines while we find a rental.

We've accepted an offer on the house from a cash buyer, not long now!!

Is there any way to check internet access in suburbs further from the coast? Ie an area/postcode checker for broadband?

Hi Martin & Liz, a possible area to consider is Pacific Pines. By all accounts it has a good community feeling, new homes and just off the motorway at the Northern end of the Gold Coast giving good access to both Southport (hospital) and Nerang (15 minutes drive tops for both) Re commuting trains aren't really an option so check the buses. Best of luck
