Redlands is a good area to live. Might be a bit of a drive to work - depends of course? There are many good places in Brizzy, don't tie yourself down to any one. Ease of commuting is a major factor in quality in life (everywhere). If I worked in north Brisbane I must admit Redlands would be a strong possibility (currently in working in south west Brizzy).
By the way I see you're from Accrington? I'm from Earby/Colne. Is it still raining there?

I'm confusing Redcliffe & Redlands - Doah!!. However my point is think about where you're going to work before deciding on any one place to live. It can make a big difference to your quality of life.

We have just arrived back from a trip to Bayside we stayed in a place called ormiston. We loved it. Redlandshire or redlands as it is more often known is on the coast of Moreton bay. The beaches are but not spectacular not like in a lot of other places but the ones there are, are small and family friendly its more of a harbour area with some fantastic boats moored in Cleveland. But you can get a water taxi to Stradbroke island about 20 mins and go to some of the amazing beaches there and see the whales, dolphins and turtles.

Within Redlands there are a few suburbs including

Thorneside
Birkdale
Wellington point
Ormiston
Capalaba
Alexandra Hills
Cleveland
Thornlands
Victoria Point
Redland
Redland Bay

Wellington Point is my favourite but we are more likely to settle in Cleveland or Ormiston as the sports facilities seem to be a bit better there {Redlands united football club, outdoor 50 pool, tennis club etc all close to local school for my lads

If local transport is an issue its about 37 km to Brisbane with train stations at Cleveland {end of line** Ormiston, Wellington Point, Birkdale and Thorneside. But buses do run further outto redland etc. There are quite big commuters car parks so you can park and ride as they say.

Houses prices vary but you can definately buy a good family house for a reasonable price but you can get houses with private jettys for a good deal more. I would say most peoples price brackets are catered for. The owners of the motel where we stayed said they would not live in Alexandra Hills or Capalaba they didn't give a specific reason but it looked fine to us so not sure what they were talking about. The houses are a bit cheaper there and some nice streets.

Anyway I hope this gives you a start and its the kind of thing you are looking for.

Good luck
Wardy :)

Many thanks for the post. It's really helpful to get someone's personal opinion about places, gives some idea of what they are really like!
