We're in Brisbane and it's 11C in our house in the mornings. Have 2 duvets on my bed right now. Keep meaning to buy a hot water bottle too.

I huffed off into the clothes section and punished him that way for not agreeing with me! We have now (like proper grown ups) compromised, and decided to buy those duvet set things where you have two duvets of different tog ratings stuck together so that you can create three different tog ratings!! What will we do with ourselves when the move is over????? What will we talk about??? What will we spend our money on??

Hey!
As far as bringing beding goes here's my twopenneth!
I love to sleep in the cool so bear that in mind that back in the UK I would rather have the widnow open and a big duvet than the heating on! So..
At the moment I am sleeping with the windows and patio door to my room open! Air temp outside has been down to about 14 but coolest it has got inside is 19C!
I didnt bring any of my duvets as a new one was due anyway! I have ended up buying a very lightweight one out here as it is too cool to sleep under just a sheet for me with windows open! But I cant see me needing a big duvet up here in Townsville!
BUT I would heed what those are saying about moving elsewhere in aus...if you have a good duvet you love bring it as you may need it if you move!
In terms of bedding the beds are a slightly different size I have always been a fan of sainsburys bedding too! But I would prob stay away from fitted sheets jsut in case and also worth remembering you are prob gonna want a top and a bottom sheet when buying bedding I forgot this and ended up buying some over here! Rarther a lot compared to the fact I used to wonder around sainsbury doing my weekly shop and go 'oh look bed in a bag half price! 30 quid bargin!' that doesnt happen here!
Hope thats of some help!
Hi surfybrit,
I'm coming over to FNQ and was wondering what tog rating you ended up buying in Oz? Also someone told me that that UK kingsize is the equivalent of double in OZ, what you reckon? Doesn't seem any point in bringing any over if we have to end up changing them all as they're incompatible.

Thanks Surfybrit! I'm gonna get some nice lightweight coverlet type things which will hopefully do for us. Will ship over the duvets and keep them for the future! We're shipping our own beds as they're all pretty new so the size difference doesn't worry me too much....
Okkies
In terms of TOG they dont rate them that way at all over here! Lady in bedding shop was most bemused when I asked! They only have 'summer' or 'winter' not all that helpfull in FNQ! I have a summer weight one on at the mo would guess its a 4ish TOG!
Size ummm I think they are pretty close to the same size but I ccan go home and measure my double BUT here a Queen bed is what the UK would call KING and a KING is what the UK woudl call SUPERKING! Plus a lot of people seem to have the QUEEN size and consider a double small! But its just me and at 5ft 2 I think I would get lost in anything much bigger!
If you want to let me know what size bed you have will go and ask the lady in the bedding shop what size the aussies think that is and I can let you know if that helps?
