      North Lakes - Good/Bad Points?

Researching suburbs and came across North Lakes. Does anyone have any experience of North Lakes? Looks good: family orientated, good schools, close to beach, good transport links to CBD and rentals look reasonable. Don't know about work though. I work as an Occupational Therapist. There is a hospital in Redcliffe but unsure about any other work opportunities.

      Any info would be great,

      Hi Leah

Alot of Brits live in North Lakes and seem to like living there. It is often referred to as "Little Britain" because of the large British population. Personally, it would not suit me as a place to live because the houses are very tightly packed together which is just like living in the UK. I have had bad experiences with noisy/anti-social neighbours in the past so a reasonable amount of space between me and next door is a must! The area is also quite flat and as it is quite a new development there are not a lot of trees in between the houses. However, this will change quite quickly judging by the rate at which plants grow over here. The area is also not well served by public transport (no trains) and is quite a distance from the city if you want to commute into the city centre. The M1 motorway that runs to the city is often congested during rushhour.

On the plus side it is close to the Redcliffe Peninsula and the beaches there and has a good shopping centre. It is also affordable compared to suburbs closer in to Brisbane. Hopefully someone who lives in North Lakes will give you some more feedback on the area.

      Hope this helps.

      Lucy
