Poms In The Sun

By Desmond Zwar

I thank Desmond for giving us - future migrants and those already in Australia the opportunity to read and enjoy his exclusive short stories here on PomsInOz.
In 2007, more than one million, two hundred thousand Britons had settled in Australia. Last year 18,000 flew here from Britain to make new lives, by far the largest intake from any country. Why do ‘the Brits' come here? What are they seeking? Do they find it easy to make a new home so far away from England? How do they get on with the Aussies? What are their success stories? Desmond Zwar has spent years talking to British migrants, asking these questions. He has chatted to the ‘ordinary' Londoner, the celebrities – like Joe Bugner – the infamous – like Ronnie Biggs, (an ‘unofficial' migrant until it got a bit too hot for him).
Some he talked to, are sadly no longer with us. But their spirit lives on...and have been recorded in his book for posterity.

Each week PomsInOz will publish two of the short stories.

Desmond is looking for a publisher, so if there is any publishers out there - please get in touch!
