      Hi

We are taking our GSD over, shes flying on the 6th Feb.
We are using golden arrows and its costing £2560 plus an import licence, but they will get that for you if you want, we had already applied for ours. Then they need to be up to date with all vaccinations but leave the Lepto part out, as it will show up in the blood test they have 30 days before they leave. The blood tests cost about £140. Then there is the Quarantine to pay for at the other end. All in all its approx £3,000. But worth it as I could not have left her here. Hope that helps.

just out of interest has anybody heard of a dog not being allowed to go , from something being not right with the bloods, our friends have had to leave their dog behind as one of the tests kept coming back higher each time. im a little worried with 30 days to go this would be awfull, app the test is one they wont let you in unless your dogs score is low. they are having her redone and are coming home if she can't go. is this the same as lepto?

Its the test for Leptospirosis was potentially causes the problem. This is one of the diseases that is vaccinated against in the UK so often when bloods are tested from dogs that are fully vaccinated it often shows a positive result(particularly if the booster injectiions have been done recently). It happened with us and our Boxer, the first test came out with a low but positive test for Lepto. When this happens the procedure is to take another blood sample 2 weeks after the initial one and as long as the second test doesn't come out at a higher level than the first they are satisfied and the dog can travel. When it happened to us I was petrified that our dog would not be allowed in but the vet told us it happens all the time and only in very rare cases does the retest result come out higher and cause a problem. Hope this helps.

      Hi Nic

      Welcome to Poms in Oz.

billy braveheart has a large Gernam Shepherd. They shipped her to Perth last July. I can't remember which pet people they used but it all went very well.

I suggest you pm Billy. There was a last minute panic when the dog failed oneof the blood tests because of aroutine vaccination some months earlier but the test was repeated a few days later and was OK.

      Cheers

Hey relax guys...The process is really straight forward, we shipped our two labs to Perth in July last year and they are lovin it! Not cheap (about 6000GBP for the pair) but no problems and well looked after at the kennels at Byford. You can visit everyday and ake them for play time in their runs outdoors if you wish. PM if you need more info. Regards Graham
