Tinaandco
Hi, I'm not sure yet but we might return to the UK and we would take our 2 Labradors with us, I phoned a vet and they quoted me $250 each to give them their rabies jab !!! Which I think is a bloody lot of money. can anyone tell me if they have taken their dog back to the UK and if so how much did it cost? Thanks Tina x

Sapphire
It does seem alot. We had our rabies shots done for return, before the new regs were passed and blood tests were no longer needed. So of course we paid for jabs and blood tests, which I think came to about $400 per animal ( 2 cats and 1 dog) So of course now, they dont have to do the blood tests, they will have to make thier money up somewhere. It does seem a lot, but maybe ring around and see if you can get some variation on price. Im pretty sure you have to go to an AQUIS approved vet, so not sure how many are in your area. They can be pretty limited, hence why they can charge what they like. Good Luck. Blooroo
Hi, our border collie had her rabies shot a couple of days ago here in canberra and it cost only $150 Quote from Dogtainers to transport her back to the uk was $3500 all paperwork and vet checks included as well as the special crate. Blooroo
I wonder if your quote was for both the vaccine, and the blood test that checks if the vaccine has worked? our vet said that the blood test was optional...
Tinaandco
Hi, I spoke to a vet here and the rabies vaccine that our dogs had in the UK lasts 3 years and I think they only need a booster for every 18months, so as long as we get them home before that he said we should be fine xx
