Hi all, Is there any chance you could advise/help me aswel, my dog has been on wainwrights for sometime now, it's very much the same as James well beloved, not sure if you have heard of this? It hypoallergenic food to help with his paw biting and licking, he is also on medication (ATOPICA) for this, he won't eat dried food, so I'm trying to find something similar in aus, and when he is in the Sydney quarantine who do I contact about delivering the food?
      any help kindly appreciated.

      Hey

I think most people with pets on special food can order it from an Australian online pet store and set the delivery address as the quarantine station, though you must inform the quarantine station and put the import permit number as the reference so they know who it is for. Or try www.dogwalks.com.au and they will take the food in to the quarantine station when they go to walk your dogs if you would like that service.

Just a quick one, have you worked with your vet to find out what allergens your little one is allergic to?
Is it wet food you have him on or Wainwrights dry?

Hi, he is on wet food, he has allergies to grass, not the ideal situation for a dog, but the ATOPICA he is on works great for him, it's very expensive but he was on steroids for a while which is no good for him, plus the weight gain was not good at all, I really did not want him on steroids so when ATOPICA was suggested along with a change in food I decided to give it a go and have not looked back.

Hi, yes I will deffinately be hiring the service of dogwalks, so thanks for letting me know they can take the food in, now all I need to do is find an equivalent to wainwrights wet food.

      Hi everyone,
just had a wee quick read through all your replies, thank you so much. not quite sure what to do re food, will check out the advance and see how it compares to what he gets just now and take it from there.

Movingtomelbourne - Murphy is an 8year old Black Russian Terrier .

Rebecca, our boy is also on ATOPICA (wonder drug) we had loads of issues with him when he was about 18mths/2 and they ran loads of tests never got to the bottom of it but Atopica sorted him out. He's now on a maintenance dose of 2 tabs once a week and it seems to keep whatever it is at bay.

I did contact Byford with regard to dogwalkers and they wouldn't/couldn't recommend a company so i imagine the response would be the same for delivery companies.

will have another good read through your replies once i have a bit more time but just wanted to say thank you. once again PIO comes through lol!

So the allergy is not food related? This is good in that it will give you a few more options. A lot of people don't agree with hypo-allergenic foods but if this is what yours is best on then take a look at ..

      California Natural (wet and dry)

      Otherwise you could looks at

ATOPICA is a great drug and works really well.
Have a look at Bob's link re Dog Walkers.
Jen if Murphy will eat dry food as well as the ones I've listed below for Rebecca have a look at:

      Black Hawk - http://www.blackhawkpetcare.com.au

Hi, thankyou for all your help, I'm off to have a look at the foods you have recommended and compare ingredients.
what food is given to the dogs in the Sydney quarantine? Or do you have to supply your own anyway, and one more question, can I ask why hypo allergenic food is frowned upon? Is it something I should be worried about?

Hi Jen, can I ask what dosage your dog is on? My dog is on 100mg every 2nd day, my vet was mentioning about changing the dose and only giving once a week.
