Things to do! Things to see!

HI PEEPS, IVE STARTED MAKING A LIST ON THINGS ID LIKE TO SEE & DO WHEN I ARRIVE IN AUSTRALIA , MY BASE WILL BE BRISBANE.

MY FIRST CALL IS TO TRAVEL UP TO CAIRNS TO DO A TANDEM DIVE AND MY PARTNER WANTS TO SCUBA DIVE :)
IS THERE ANYTHING ON THE WAY UP TO CAIRNS YOU RECOMMEND I SHOULD SEE? ANY PLACES WE COULD SLEEP OVER FOR THE NIGHT WHILE TRAVELLING UP THEIR?

AFTER THAT I WILL BE TRAVELLING DOWN THE EAST COAST TO SYDNEY, I WANT TO GO TO THE BLUE MOUNTAINS.. IS THERE ANY I SHOULD BE LOOKING OUT FOR WHILE HEADING DOWN THEIR?

CAN ANYONE SHARE ANY EXPERIENCES OF PLACES YOU'VE VISITED?

So you will be travelling up and down the east coast? There is plenty to see and do..you have Noosa which is about an hour from brisbane and very close to Fraser Island, where you could do an excursion on 4wd's for a couple of days (google will give you companies who do them). Then I'm sure there is plenty more along the way but for me Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands is just beautiful and you could easily loose your self for a couple of weeks up there..Island hopping, sailing, excursions and so much more.. from Cairns you have Port Douglas and further up Tully with its beautiful rainforests etc..there are a few on here from up that way who could probably enlighten you more. Dont forget the Gold Coast and Mount Tamborine on your way up or down.. definitely worth a few days!

I saw an interesting info about whale watching in Hervey Bay, apparently you can do it also in NSW around Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour.
Diving the Great Barrier Reef. Fraser Island must be beautiful as well. I`ve not been to Australia but hoping to move in 2013. Interested in more info.
