Can anyone help me , i would love to know what darwin is like , Always wanted to live there but a bit worried about the weather , they seem to have cyclones etc , but the place looks fantastic and comes across as not to city like which i would love .. karen

It's not quite like anywhere else in the rest of Australia. It is very hot up there.......... very laid-back and casual.

I was lucky enough to have Darwin as a base for 2 years and loved every minute of it. Having said that though....................... I much rather prefer Perth now. No chance of me going 'troppo' in Perth.

I was on a seismic survey vessel and we were shooting the Timor Sea. Darwin was our base. I've also used Darwin as a base for other vessels I crewed on.

I liked it up there.............. loved it. Mind you i went there after spending 3 years in the Solomon Islands and 10 years in papua new guinea..........so it wasn't really too much of a culture shock as Darwin pretty much reminded me of the great times we had in the Solomon Islands.

Not everyone can become a Territorian as it's not everyone's cup of tea? There's supposed to be problems with Aborigines up in Darwin............... I never saw any of that if there was?

What line of work are you in? I reckon if you get chance to go spend time up in Darwin go for it.
