Case Officer

Hi Everyone!!

I haven't been on here since Nov 2007. I am useless though. We lodged our application on 17th November and we have today been informed we now have a case officer we have our Medicals booked 28th May. Yesterday we had our chest x-rays in and out in 5 mins.

Hi Claire,

We started our process last July 07 we were a bit slow to start but things are moving now. What type of visa are you and your family going on and when did you start your process?

Welcome to Canberra - well, you are on track anyway! When are you all hoping to arrive? What sort of employment are you after?

You are going to find it very different from Durham - I guess you have seen many pictures by now!

Hi Quoll, We were hoping to be in Canberra for the end of the year, but that could be wishful thinking, my OH is an IT Manager at Durham University there seems to be plenty of jobs out ther for him,He got invited to attend Expo at Australia house and was approached by the State
Gov and was told that they were intrested in what he did etc, and would be willing to sponsor us, came as quite a shock as it was a place that we had not even considered as we never visited when we have been over to OZ, but we have been researching the area and sounds quite nice to me, Do you like the area? iv'e seen a few of your threads on here and get the impression you would move back to england at the drop of a hat.( dont mean to be rude by saying that) lol. Claire.

I would go home at the drop of a hat but nothing to do with Canberra per se - it is one of the best places to live here really - close enough to the beach, the snow, the big smoke, the bush and yet within a really nice well planned city. It has defined seasons which are far better than sweltering 52/52. We could do with more rain as we are a tad drought ridden at the moment but the lakes are still there and we make do with tank water and not very much car washing There is a lot of employment here at the moment but we are waiting to see what, if anything, is the impact of the federal budget earlier in the week. It may make a bit of a dip in real estate prices if the last govt changeover was anything to go by but as we have a bit of a supply problem against the demand these days it probably wont be that much of a problem. You could do a whole lot worse than Canberra really!

Thats Brill Catherine!
Very envious now! Its all starting to move....cant believe how quick the chest xrays were! Let me know hoe you get on with the actual medicals....Remember i told you that we had booked our medicals for next weds....well ive cancelled them untill 11th June...India has her very last playschool sports day this weds and she has been practising in the back garden for weeks...I just couldnt tell her she couldnt go! Its very important to a 3 year old! So a couple more weeks wont hurt (we are front loading the meds and Pc's anyway)
When are you putting your house up?
Zoe xx

Hi Zoe,

I know what you mean about India it is important to them. Lucy will be having her sports day at nursery in July and are they are off to Washington Wildfowl Park on June 12th aswell. Putting house up for sale soon, ( I love this house ) but its only bricks and mortar as Darren would say.

Catherine
