Hiya

I'm going in September 07 - Have friends in Uk going across with their 2 little girls - 3 and 4 years old! They are looking to move to Amaroo or Gungahlin as the schools they have picked are there - see http://www.det.act.gov.au/ for ideas.

Our kids are older - 16,15 and 11, so wont be able to give advice on that side of things - sorry!

Good luck with all!!!!

Angie

Not a problem!

It's nice to find someone else going to Canberra - our's is an Aussie Navy Posting, so there was not alot of choice regarding location - who knows where we'll be next??!!!!

We've managed to get our house confirmed for our arrival too, which is a great relief! We're going to be living in Gungahlin and our kids will hopefully be going to a School that we've picked in Dickson.

Fingers crossed all goes well!

Let me know how things are going for you

Angie

Hi
Dont know if you been to canberra before, there are some very good restraunts in Dickson, one that does steak for $5 on a monday and tuesday( if memory serves!) which you cook yourself on a big bbq in the middle of the room which is good .( if your not a veggie that is).

We've never been to Canberra - it's a work thing that takes us there!!!!

We have friends who have been and others that are Aussies over here and are returning to Oz in September too.

I have NO expectations - I think it's the best way! We wwent to Brisbane, Cairns and Sydney a couple of years ago and fell in love with the whole lifestyle thing!

$5 sounds good!!!! We don't eat out much here - Hubby is fantastic Cook, so why bother!!??

We have had massive support from the Aussie Defence side of things - they have full education advice and recommendations too! We've been lucky with that side of things, but it's not until we get there that the rest should fall into place!

When did you go to Canberra??

Hi, spent 5 days there in april, not enough time to get to really know anywhere but gave us a feel for the place anyway. Company who are going to sponser oh are in Canberra so we have to stay in the area for 2 years. Certainly liked what we saw so this will be no hardship. Lots to see and do, only a couple of hours to Sydney if you like the bright lights, only about an hour to go skiing. Luckly you that your oh is a good cook, my oh more of the typical male- only outside and over flame, so should fit right in.

Hi, we are in the process of applying for sponsorship to Canberra. Going with my oh and my daughter who is 2. Not sure where to go in Canberra. Any advice on which areas are good and which to avoid if any would be appreciated.

Hi, I was wondering if you have made it down under yet. My husband have just had the skill assessment passed and are in the process of researching the ACT. I also have two children of 4 years and 2 years and am very interested in the areas, schooling and any social clubs that you might know of. Would love any advise you have to offer. Thanks, Lianne
