Question Is there anyone in, or going to Canberra?

Hi

The general train of thought is that most are going to QLD, NSW etc etc - is there anyone else either in or planning to go to Canberra? There seems to be lots of views on most other areas, but this little 'dot' seems to be missed!

We are hoping to fly 3rd September - all being well, and would love further information on clubs etc - I have looked at this

http://canberra.yourguide.com.au/hom...=2&mast_id=133

which is quite helpful, but welcome all other views!

Many Thanks in advance

Angie

Hi

We are hoping to move to Canberra in Sept/Oct depending on when my visa comes through. I was offered a job in February which I accepted and now I am trying to get my RSMS visa. It seems like a nice place just not beside the sea which would be ideal but I don't mind, just getting the job I wanted and moving to Australia is satisfying enough.

Good luck with your move I hope you will enjoy it.

Hi

Is that to live or visit?? It would be great if you could give another perspective on it!

We are looking at living in Belconnen - although not too sure what the surrounding areas are lie - it's all a bit new!

Hi Angie
We will be moving out there to live and work. we have been provided with a rented serviced apartment near the city centre for the first 8 weeks following my arrival. The company i will be working for has sorted that out for us. After that we have to find some where ourselves. they advised us to look at : allhomes.com.au its a good site and Bellconnen seems nice. Like i say when i get out there ill have a good look round and keep in touch. thanks John N Helen.

Hi John & Helen!

I was given this by the people who are employing my hubby - not too sure if it's any use to you, but have a look.....

We're still waiting for Visas at this end and should be there by September - fingers crossed!

Best of luck!

Angie

I was in Canberra a few weeks ago. I have visited it a few times now and it always seems like a very clean city and also comparatively quiet in relation to all other cities I've ever been in. We spent a few hours sitting in on parliament, which was quite interesting. In past visits we have visited friends in a couple of different suburbs and they were both quiet, clean and the housing seemed to be of a high standard. I did remark this time that I would miss not living near to the beach, however that said it is a very beautiful and picturesque city.

Eric.

Thanks Eric!

The Beach side of things is OK for me - family live in Wynnum and we've visited a few times!

It's probably only for around 4 years or so, then we may be sent elsewhere - Hubby joining Aussie Navy, so who knows!?

Thanks again

Angie

I have moved to Canberra

Well me and my boyfreind moved to Canberra about three months ago and I'll say this.."it's different to Sydney" Clubs?? Im not sure I have seen any!! Its Gods Waiting Room basically and I wont be here for the duration, thats for sure. It depends what you want out of life though and it's a good place to bring up a family. Canberra is the Capital but really it's nothing more than a small inland town! and I feel it has a small town mentality. Being from market town in the uk, I know.! You get the people who love it here and the ones who hate it, no inbetween! let me know what you think?.. I could go on and on about it but everyone has their own perception..Kelly

Hi just want to ask have you decided where you are going to live in Canberra yet? Or is that something the Navy have decided for you.

My name is Catherine and we are hoping to go to Canberra aswell. Taking in all the advice I' m reading on this website. Not many people seem to like Canberra but general view is its a family thing which we want. Not to bothered about clubs.

I take it your other half was in the navy here.

Catherine x
