I'm not going through the visa process. I grew up in Aus and moved here in 1995 just after my 22nd birthday. Having said that, being a citizen isn't is as easy as *iss to get back. With a child my journey started in April with court proceedings and we trying to get consent from the absent father for for the Aus passport finally got our court order and passports this month (our passports yesterday)

As I was only 22 when I left - going back is exactly the same experience as everyone else in terms of then unknown etc. I plan to move to Canberra as I fell in love with the place when I visited in 2004 and felt then and still do that it was the place for us to be. I got on gut feeling a lot and on my first day there - I thought we should live here. Very bizarre considering I was only visiting family for a holiday and never had any intention of moving back there.

Lived in Canberra for many (many many) years now and it is a good place to bring up kids. It seems like the job market is good at the moment although many vacancies are restricted to permanent residents and citizens as that is a requirement for a government position and many vacancies are for govvie positions. Tradesmen seem to be doing very well here at the moment.

Well I have finally finished the 176 visa forms and they are with our agent. So so so pleased its over and all we have to do now is wait.

Hi,

We are hoping to move to Canberra on a 137 STNI, we got our case officer today and Ive been told if all goes well we could be looking at mid January for a decision.

Before we settle down were planning to visit relatives in Adelaide then have a few months driving/caravan holiday from Adelaide > Cairns > Canberra and as much as we can inbetween.

Just thought I would say hi to fellow Canberrian applicants

Hi Maria & Graham,

Sounds really exciting!! If we get the go ahead we will visit friends in Melbourne and go to Perth to see my cousin who went over last November before we land in Canberra.
