Just had to put a little post on here - :( It looked so sad and lonely every time I logged on with no one writing about the Northern Territory , so I thought I would boost it up a bit.
Surely there MUST be someone who has been there, or maybe wants to live there - it can't all be dust.
So lets hear it for the Northern Territory :D :D :D

G'day Heather, the reason that no one else is writing about the Northern Territory is that there is no one else!
Didn't they tell you mate, you will be one of the first pioneers!
When you arrive in Darwin you will pick up your rations, horses, wagons and head out to your settlement.
Before you leave the UK, I suggest that you hone up on your bush skills, can you hunt, fish, gut and clean fish, skin rabbits, ride a horse and mend fences?
Its called the land of the never, never, cause it never, never ends and if you never, never go, then you'll never, never know.
And they say that Adelaide is quiet!! :D Which is where we will be heading next year! When the kids are off our hands we would like to explore the rest of Oz, NT is on the to do list!
Bill Bryson's book on Oz was enlightening on the joys and distances involved with NT. One of my friends went to NT and their campervan broke down at a place called Elliott - they had to sit there for 3 weeks before the part needed to fix it arrived. They relied on passing traffic (?) to give them food as they had run out!

If I were younger, I'd be off to the Territory.
It's very much a new frontier and a young person's idyllic place, I reckon.
The climate's great and the scenery out of this world. It will change as people begin to shift up there, but next year I'd like to spend some time there again, exploring and soaking up the feel of the Territory.
A fantastic place.
Once it's got you under its spell, it's hard to live anywhere else in this world.
Is there anyone out there moving to the Northern Territory, or is it just me and my family. I'm moving to Alice Springs in February 2006, is there anyone out there who dosen't think we are mad as my friends think I've lost the plot.
Terry!
Your mates who reckon you've lost the plot . . . . have they ever been to the Territory??
I guarantee . . . if they'd ever been there, they wouldn't think you'd dropped out of a tree, matey!
The "Alice" is a thousand miles from anywhere else, but it's a great place. The locals, if you ask for their advice, will see you right . . . . and if you're lucky enough to get in with a good bunch, you'll have treks off into the bush for days on end in 4WDs over desert and sand, sleeping under the stars, sitting around a campfire at night with a few bottles of beer telling the biggest tales as the evening gets on.
You will wonder why you never did it earlier in your life.
I've been there. I've done it! The stars are soooo bright and soooo many that you feel you could almost reach out and put one in your pocket. . . . . . Not too many places left on this planet like that.
I envy you.
