New Baby in Oz on 457

I have recently just had a baby in Brisbane and I am currently working on a 457 visa. Can somebody please help me with regards to the registeration of the baby. We have registered the birth and got him a birth certificate. Does anyone know if I have to register the baby in England or Australia or both or neither. I am a little lost, I know that he can't get a Australian passport but do I have to apply for an English one.

Yes you do have to apply for an English one - he is a UK citizen and not an Australian citizen and will need it to travel anywhere. You can apply for a passport at the British High Commission here in Canberra - I think it may be form C2 but could be wrong about that - you can download them from the net anyway. It'll cost you about $190 at the moment. From info on another board, I dont think they do High Commission registrations any more so his passport is going to be his evidence of citizenship.
