The way it works :

DVD hardware ( the player itself ) either has a region code ( randing from 1 to 5 ) or is region-free. If it's not region free you can make it region free yourself !
Go here and follow the instructions :
Unlock your DVD player

Now, the discs themselves also have region codes on them. You can remove these also by copying them using sofware on your PC. But only 1 of the 2 ( either the player or the disc ) needs to be region free. So just keep it simple : Make your player region-free using the tip above and you will have no problems.

You can make your existing DVD player region free easily yourself by using the remote control and pressing the right series of buttons ( the unlock code ). See here :
