Moving from a 457 to Spouse Visa

Hi all

I am currently working in Brisbane on a sub class 457 and have been hear for about 5 years, in that time I have married (a local), had a son with a daughter due in November, My contract is not being renewed and my wife and I have decided we would like to stay. I have applied for Australian and Uk Police checks (expecting them anyway now), I have also had my bloods, medical and x-ray, my interview date at the Brisbane I am guessing its unlikely for my visa to be granted on the spot, does anyone know if it possible to obtain a bridging visa that will allow me to work whilst waiting for my spouse visa? I have work ready to start 1st October. immigration office is the 18th Sept, my contract finishes on the 30th, therefore my 457 I assume will be invalid.
