Why is it that if you love Perth (or any part of Oz for that matter) you must hate UK and vice versa?? I am getting really peed off now with all the slagging off of both places. Am I the only one who thinks the UK is actually an ok place and hey guess what , Perth/ Oz isn`t too bad either, to love one must you really hate the other?? If you go to Oz and don`t like it, so what, it`s not a failure,you`ve just simply learned more about what you want from life, it`s not the fault of Australia, it`s just life!! By moving to Oz and feeling happy there is the same thing, it`s about finding out what makes you happy and changing your life!!!
It`s about what works for you - stuff everyone else and stop trying to convince everyone else that your way is the only way - accept others may think differently, live your life and be happy, wherever in the world that is!!!!!

OOh Personally I don't hate the Uk, but I like Perth better (most of the time), saying that I am bored of Perth, I was lucky enough to spend 8 months on the road when I first arrived here in Oz and saw much of the country, are there other places in Australia I could live, absolutely, would I return to the Uk, possibly but not likely.

I don't really think anybody hates either , it's just that we always want to better ourselves , so we try other things and speak about the things that are bothering us about where we are at the time . We look to the future and try and imagine what it will be like. AS always, writing things on a forum can often be overemphasised and often sounds much harsher that we really feel deep down inside.
I'm sure Aus will have many things i'm not keen on and many things i will love , just like the UK.
It is true to say though, the UK has changed with the times , and not all has been good. As i am sure is the case in Aus , i'll keep you posted as to what i find when i get there !

Can I just say Mrs McMoo that I totally agree with you! ..Yes I am moving to Oz and yes I am looking forward to going (with certain personal reservations which are nothing to do with Oz) however I am not a member of the "everything in the UK is awful club" coz it really isnt! Nor by the way is everything wonderful in either country by the way ... just different!
I have lived in the uk all my life, appart from holidays abroad, I have lived in the North West (the most), the Midlands the South and now the South East and have travelled round most of the UK.
Moving to Oz is simply the next phase of my life, coz thats where John my husband is from, so to him he is going home. I am looking forward to exploring a whole new country but I wont "run the UK" down no matter how much I love Oz! Because I love the Uk too!

Great Post Moo... I have never lived in Perth nor even visited.. Before I came to Oz I was very disillusioned with England and what it had become..Maybe I did have rose coloured specs on and maybe I still do.. However after being in QLD for nearly a year now..OMG a year!!! I do now have times when I miss home..Never ever thought I would say it but I do..So shoot me... I even go as far as to say I do infact love my "home" country but boy god this comes a very good joint first!!!! You are so right ya dont have to hate one to love another..learn to love both x
I was frustrated with things in England, which probably gave me the push to try Oz .. I'm sure in a few years time, there'll be things that frustrate me here too. At the moment I'm happy in WA, I can't imagine returning to England to Live ... always said if things didn't work out for us here - we'd try another part of Aus.
