Hi All
Well after lots of anticipation we got to take a big trip to the other side of the world, and what a fab time we had.
We had a great first week in Perth. We were lucky enough to stay with a fab family who gave us so much help. Perth city is very clean and the views from Kings Park across the rivers and of the city skyline are beautiful.
We then flew to Brisbane and pretty much from the moment we arrived it felt like the right place for us. We stayed about 30 mins north of the city . This proved a good place to get to see what the sunshine coast had to offer- my husband fell in love with the beauty that is Noosa heads, take a few trips in and around the city and venture to the south of the city- although we didn't quite make it down to the Gold Coast.
From POI we had a few meet ups arranged during our trip and that really helped to make our trip even better. So bear with me but I have to do a couple of thank yous!
Dale and Fran, it was so nice to be invited over to meet you and some other expats, all of whom were so friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to meeting up again soon.
The next thanks is to the Johatts, you guys are lovely and we really enjoyed meeting you in person and sampling Marks BBQ skills.
Lastly to the Beerwah Massive- Chelle you are a little star for throwing a BBQ for us and Kelly and Jamie, and of course Gav thanks for doing the cooking hun. You all made us feel so at home, and Jo- well you were so unfriendly and not my cup of tea!!!!!!, how wrong can I be, you are a hun. Eddie and Tina, lovely to chat to you- Eddie you are in my bad books now though re the whole Mike getting a boat thing!!!!
Anyway, enough of the Oscar speechs.
Due to the info I have gained on this fab site I have to say I didn't really have too many surprises on our trip. The cost of food is pretty on par with here, the tv is a bit pants, overall the people seem to be really friendly and so quick to offer help and assistance. I found it funny that a Tue is cheap fuel day and by Fri the price goes up! The house prices are going up but as general rule you can still get more house for your money than in the UK.
I am glad we were able to take the trip as it gaves us a chance to sort some things out ready for our move over. Def not an oracle, but if anyone wants any info I will try my best and help out.
Oz may not be for everyone but for my family at this time in our lives we feel happy that we are making the move. We leave on our one way ticket on Sun Oct 26th!!!!!!!!!!!
