I hate to admit it but Aldo gave me an idea with his last thread about Australian culture!
The world over has some weird events, just last night on the news they were talking about an urban marathon in Manchester. What are some of the strange/weird events that you have heard of? Have you competed in any of them????? or would you like to???

Thanks Geoff for starting this thread. I'll rewrite what i put on another thread a minute ago cos it seems to have disappeared. Don't know why.
I remember in the west country, Devon, a small town called Ottery St Mary, we used to go there on 5th November, as they used to do tar barrel rolling and thousands of people turned up to watch this event. Basically the young guys of the town would all get very drunk and they would then run around around the town with burning tar barrels on their backs while all the onlookers tried their best to keep out of the way. A crazy event which dates back quite a few years.
also in the west country, we had the cheese rolling! (cant remember proper name) where took a big wheel of cheese and rolled it down the biggest hill, and you had to avoid it!! funny as someone always gets hurt by these things!! and fancy going into your local with a lovely shiner and you have to explain you got hit by a bit of cheese!!! lol
