Rule for Pets Re-entering UK

Hello all

Have noticed on a couple of threads that folks heading back to the UK seem to be under the impression that their pets would have to do 6 months time in quarantine on re-entry.

Having looked at Defra's website it appears to indicate that as long as your pet dog or cat is coming from one of the listed qualifying countries (as Aus is) they can re-enter the UK without quarantine providing that they meet the rules of the PETS scheme i.e. they are microchipped and wait 6 months after receiving rabies jab before travel.

cool that helps heaps as may want to go back one day to live and didn't want the dog to go through 6 months quarantine.

Yes, we read that too. As I am likely to be on a 3 year student visa the thought had crossed my mind that we may not be able to stay and we would not want to put our pets through 6 months quarantine. We have decided to get the rabies jabs done here and keep up the boosters in Oz just in case we have to return and can't wait the 6 months.

Yet another worry dealt with. Now what's next on the list.
