Hi, I'm flying from London Heathrow on 18th June to Brisbane.
My flight takes me to Hong Kong where we stay for about six hours before continuing onto Brisbane, my question is this:
I have a friend in Hong Kong, is it possible to leave the airport in Hong Kong for an hour or so to meet him for a beer before returning back to the plane and continuing onto Brisbane ?
Has anyone landed in Hong Kong on their way to Oz and left the airport before returning the same day to get their transfer flight ?
Or do they keep you within the compound of the arrivals and customs area of the airport, to save time checking in again ?
Hi
I wouldn't think you would be allowed to leave as there is such a short space of time before you take off again. Pity you didn't have a stopover on the way! You may still be able to arrange that.

When my friend flew back to England from Aus via Singapore, she was able to leave the transit lounge to have a coffee with us (albeit at Changi airport) and then go back in. If there is somewhere at the airport that you can go, they may let you do this. Not sure about the rules in hong Kong though.
Hi Aaron,
we flew via Hong Kong in Jan and had a 6 hour stopover. You can leave the airport and they have a high speed train which takes you into town in about 20 mins. We did not leave as we had 3 kids with us and there is lots to do in the airport.
Hope this helps
