Roadworthy certificate for car?

Hi all
Just need to know if, when you buy a used car from a dealer whether you should automatically receive a certificate of roadworthiness. Be grateful if anyone knows

depnends if sold registered or sold as is.

I don't know about WA although over here in NSW if you buy a car and it has Rego you won't get a road worthy cert as it is already passed for 1yr Rego.

Have you got any troubles with your car at the moment?

No but someone had said that here we should have been given a certificate but we were unsure as to whether that was true or not

The only thing I can think of would be to contact the RTA over there and ask them, have you transferred ownership on it yet?
