My OH got me up today on my day off...forecast said rain, so I was looking forward to a long lie-in...She decided different so spent the day sitting in the boot of my car. £150 put into the "Get us to Oz kitty" made the day worthwhile!! As for the forecast?? Wrong again...it was a beautiful day all day here.
Well this weekend saw the first sunshine in Sydney for over 2 weeks. It's been raining and overcast every day for the last 16 or 17 days before that. That was the worst period of prelonged rain for about 30 years though apparantly. Folk were getting really upset the whole thing, but I barely noticed. It was just like being at home only warmer and it didn't last for 6 solid months of the year.
Sydney has an average annual rainfall of 1200mm and London has an average annual rainfall of 650mm, it's just that double the amount in Sydney tends to fall in a much shorter period.
Plans have been ruined a couple of times due to the wet, but the pay off is that even when it's lashing down it's still 25 degrees outside, so you just go sit under the awning of a local restaurant and have some food instead.
We've only cancelled one thing here in Aus so far because of the weather. Before we left the UK by son only played football twice from September to our leaving in Jan due to the weather.
One thing I can’t get over here is how accurate they are with the weather forecast. If they say there will be some rain then there is and when they say sunny and hot… they are spot on…. Not at all like the UK where weather is so unpredictable!!!…. I suppose it helps having such a huge land mass!!
i was up at 6.30am waiting for the rain to go off, was lovely the day before and had heard that was meant to be ok all weekend. Desperate to put monbey in our kitty, and imy lounge is full of car booty stuff.
Hate putting stuff off, but sometimes you are literally a sitting duck with the weather.
Shame cricket cancelled footy never is,always cold and wet lol.
Not long now and be moaning about 17days of rain instead of six months lol.
Ive started having a good clearout, even though we are only in early stages, but you have to start sorting out sometime.
Will be doing a car booty myself in a few weeks time, think I will wait for the better weather!!!!!!!
Thrown loads of stuff away, but some is far too good to get rid of, so will help towards the "ozzie" fund.
Roll on the good weather!
