We are hoping to move over in December this year and while I have spent a year in oz, plus two hols of a month and a fortnight respectively and loved it, I am wondering what I will miss most about home....
I'm thinking so far:
Summer evenings when it's light until 10pm
Pubs (they're just not the same over there)
Proper cadburys chocolate
Fish and chips pommie style
Snowdrops and bluebells (god I sound like an idiot!)
But on the other hand I cant wait to not have to shop at Tesco, to go to the beach all the time, bbq's, to watch Chasers!!, not have to get soaked regularly on the way to work as it rains 99% of the time...

Cal x
Havent bought any clothes for me or the kids since we got here! Saving a fortune and hubby very happy. Mind you I'm going home for a hol in November with empty suitcases lol.
Hedgerows that change with the season, delicate wildflowers, grass that is grass and not some rough alternative. Ground that "gives" when you walk on it. Variety of scenery within a few miles. History - castles, cathedrals, abbeys etc (how do you "capture" history???). People that look you in the eye and have a chat at the check out. Long summer evenings and cold winter nights in front of the fire. Christmas that is cold and christmassy so the carols actually make sense! Church bells on a Sunday. Pub grub.
Chestnuts at Christmas - having to buy them now and freeze them.. Shame I can't send you one of my dads home made cheese and onion pies Cal (when he came over he stocked my freezer!!)
oh no. I agree with every reply! Now I dont want to leave, and my mums cheese and onion pies are kickass! She uses a lancashire cheese called 'Grandmas', very strong and very tasty.....mmmm....now I'm hungry for one!
Hi, I've lived in Australia almost all my life. parents came here when I was a kid. There's one thing you can't put a price on about your own country, and that is belonging. No matter how long you live in another country it will never be yours, and you'll always be a newcomer, despite the timespan. Why is everyone leaving UK? I still miss it. all the best to you, Liz
