Every day i compare every day life with Australia! Its really doing the wifes head in! I walk down the street and see all the litter and tut! Dont see that in Oz, Walking the dogs and its Cold! Not cold on the sunshine coast!.. Wrapped up in coats, scarf and gloves... Would be wearing flipflops in oz! Road rage and bustling cars...... Quiet in Oz....
Been to Australia twice and loved every single minute of it... The sooner we get ther the better... Does anyone else feel the same?

Chris, you get all that in Perth mate except road rage is worse over here, they are mental and will not let you out and tailgate rotton.

Yep
you do find yourself, thinking if not saying out loud,
in Oz..................................
when we were in Oz..............................................
it will be different when we get to Oz...........................................
It is a standing joke in our family, my Dad bless him, is always saying things like that, according to him you do not get traffic queues, the transport is so reliable, beer is cheaper, the people are friendlier etc etc
Yes we have found people to be friendly and the UK does seem very hectic and the traffic a lot heavier (travelling home down the M25 and M3 does not help)
But do try to keep your feet on the ground, things in Oz are not always better, just different and there will be challenges and frustrations for all of us at some point I am sure.

Kazz, absolutely.. different place. new people, new job, new outlook on life and also a new challenge. The difference is no hoodies, road rage, muggers, poor weather, miserable people... How cool is that... Oz rocks

Tell me where the beer is cheaperI am paying £4 a pint in the decent pubs
Yes I am obsessed by the whole australia thing and I have definately become and australia bore, trying hard not to be but just can't help myself. I feel like live, eat and sleep everything to do with OZ!!! A bit more than my hubby but he too feels it is consuming him. Every day we keep checking the computer to see if our agent has that long awaited mail for us saying our visa has been granted!!
We are headed for a rekkie to the sunshine coast/Brisbane in 9 weeks... and counting, and I fear I will be ten times worse when I get back.
At least we have poms in oz to feed the addiction and hopefully take some heat away from my poor friends ears lol

Thanks for the good wishes.......we almost feel that we can see that visa, lets hope its days and not weeks!!!
We are heading to Perth for a wk, just to have a look and prob cross it off our list, and then on to Brisbane. Its hard to tell without having been there, but we are 99.9% set on QLD not WA. We are quite open minded re where exactly in the Brisbane/sunshine coast area we want to go and it will depend on where Mike gets work- he's a sparky as well. We live in Devon now and are looking to replicate our laidback outdoors lifestyle, so with that in mind will prob lean more towards Sunshine Coast our very north of Brisbane. Still once we get over there and get a feel for the place we can put some firmer plans in place.
Out of the places you have been what is your preference?
When do you think you may get to move over permanently?
Sandra and Mike (who reads some of the threads but leaves me to do the leg work!!!)

We hired a wee car when we went to Perth. In fact both times have hired one. It was tiny, just managed to squeeze the 4 of us in. It's top speed was about 60 mph. I loved driving there and found it much safer and not as fast and furious as it is here. I think it helps having wider, straighter and flatter roads. Every day I risk my life here the minute I leave the house. I deliver parcels daily and spend most of my time with my fingers up because of bad and dangerous driving.
Our main car is BMW M3 so spend most of the day with tw*ts up my arse trying to race me in their mum's Micra's and I am just doing the school run!
To top it all, what gets me the most, is on a foggy day, hardly anyone has their lights on. It is unbelievable.
