Tax rebabte when leaving

Just wondered if anyones in the know on this?

I leave halfway through the tax year and after doing a few sums should be due for a nice little tax rebate!

Question is do i have to wait till the end of that tax year april 2009 or can i get the rebate straight away before i leave?

No expert, but got our rebate a few weeks ago- put in a P85 when we left in September 07, and after a bit of chasing (by phone in Aus), got our money refunded in March, straight into the bank.

Probably a silly question but did they pay it into your uk or oz account?

They paid it into our UK account Paul. We gave them the bank details on the form we got from the Inland Revenue. It was delayed with us, as they'd sent a letter to our old address, (despite being told we'd moved!), asking for more information, which we never recieved as in Australia already. Some people get their's quickly according to past threads I've seen, so fingers crossed for you.
