New people here, (but not to Oz). Looking through the forum, Mornington seems to get more than its share for mentions. We moved here after going to a Britvics meeting. Before this we hadn't been to Mornington, despite being here in Oz for 20 years. How come a lot of people in the UK have even heard of it? We have only been in Mornington for 4 weeks (moved from Blackburn, Melb Eastern suburbs) and I've heard a fair amount of UK accents around the town already.

We went there last month and really liked the place.
More for your money property wise, nice beaches, nice feel to it, quite vibrant and commutable to Melbourne.
That was our impression anyway!

We had never heard of Mornington well we never actually planned coming to Melbourne. (We were either planning to go to NSW or QLD having visited a number of times). However our baby son (well hes nearly 2 now) was under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital and when we discussed with his consultant our plans to come to Oz, he advised us that if we were going anywhere he wanted us to come to Melbourne so as he would be under the care of The Royal Childrens Hospital in the city.
So off we went to do some research on Melbourne. We found a company on the internet who were based in London and sold property in and around Melbourne, when I spoke with them I explained that we knew nothing about Victoria but were looking at moving there. I asked where the best place they could recommend a young family moving too....the girl I spoke with said Mornington/Mount Martha.
So off we went never being to Vic before....Well once we got here we knew this was the place for us. Great beaches, Fantastic schools, Great housing, Fantastic weather. Just over an hour into CBD either by train or road.
This was perfect for us as a family and we love it!!!!
So Slrchap why did you come after living here over 20 years??!!!!
Well, as I said we had never been here before. We had always intended moving to the bay at some stage. Once we had been to Mornington a few times we thought "why not now rather than later"
Hello, we are planning to go to mornington in sept. We visited there in 2006 and loved the place so we are heading out there. We hope to live in mount eliza of frankston south. We also thought the beaches were good too (a little better than weston super mare) though i didnt see any donkees.lol.
Nothing wrong with the beach at Weston........shame I can't say the same about the sea!!!
The beach is not bad your right there. Oz beach or weston beach ???? Tough decision. Where you heading then David and Nicky? Are you coming to next weston meet then in May sometime? Cheers Steve
