When we decided we were moving to Oz , initially we were having dificulty in deciding between Brisbane , Adelaide or Perth. Our Aussie contacts, who live in Brisbane, told us that Perth is great, brisbane is the best (But then they would say that) and Adelaide is boring. Boring how? From my research on the internet it looks totally fab with the vinyards and markets and festivals. What do people living there think?

I dont think anywere is boring ,they are completely different states offering completely different things ,it all depends what sort of lifestyle your family plan to lead.
Cal x
I was not mad on Brissie there for 9 monthes not been to Perth but love Adelaide thats were we are now looking around.
It's easy going. Easy to get round and from what I've been hearing the next city to boom. House prices are much better than the other city's
You really need to make your own mind up If poss visit all 3 citys
It may depend on your line of work that will decide if one city is better than another.
You realy do need to to your research and trust your own judgement
take advise yes but only you know what is best for you

Cant agree there cal, If a place is boring it is boring, you can only take so many Barbies or drinks around friends so much...if a place has no culture or decent theateres or nightlife it can be bloody boring.

Hi ,
John, totally agree with what you are saying and I am so pleased that you seem to have settled in Adelaide better, myself and OH was only thinking of you the other day and wondered if you came back or finally settled in Adelaide. I know what you are saying about Adelaide as that was my fav place, it has a homely feel and yes you can find your way about easily.
Are you working there now?
Take care
Good Luck Thomsons, there is somewhere for everyone in Aus, you just got to find it!!
We still have bills, work and sometimes even stress, but IMHO, if you come here with an open mind and remember that we are very different to the UK or even other states you'll love it.
There are fewer people here and Adelaide does have a small town mentality - not compared with somewhere like Roxby, but someone will always know someone who knows you. (Not talking about the expat links although I realise they are much the same!)
That said, we have many festivals (won't bore you with the list!), and of course we have nightclubs, sporting events - some world class -pubs, clubs, pokies galore (!), family events with a long history such as the Pageant and the Show, theatres, music scene, our own symphony orchestra...oh I don't know! I'm going out and can't think! For us life is good, but then we do enjoy the bbq and picnicing with friends, the camping, walking in our beautiful countryside and on wonderful beaches so I guess we would. Can't speak for anyone else though! LC
