My 9yr old son is a Judo fanatic and he would like to carry it on once we move over to Perth - Mandurah. Does anyone know of any Judo clubs around the area, or perhaps schools do a club?
Also, not having ever visited Mandurah, or even Perth, is it as nice as it looks in pictures/videos?
Any tips/advice/views most welcome!
Thanx

 Kirsty (19) - But not coming with us!!
If you type judo in perth into google should bring you up some clubs. As for Mandurah Billy is working down there just now lovely $1 plus milliion appartments by the canals its lovely. But to stay there no no no. Speaking to a perthie the other day seemingly (and this is only her view) its full of trouble & drugs. I personally dont no but only going on what I have heard.
The whole point was to get away from that sort of stuff!! I know that you get it in every country that you go to, but I was hoping not to have it on my doorstep!!
Is there any particular areas that you would recommend? Just want to be near the beach, good school, parks, shopping centres! Same as everyone else really.
Thanx Janette

Appart from what I have heard I know nothing of the area. I dont want to put you off. Its like any where tho you will hear good and bad. I am sure someone will be along soon that lives down that way to give you their opinion. But it is a beautiful area.

Hi Lynn,
I am in Port kennedy, its about a 20 mins drive to Mandurah. Its lovely there, as for the troubles I have heard nor read anything bad about the area. The local papers would have it all in there and I have not seen anything!
I really dont think it is as bad as some say, honestly. Another option is to look at the surrounding suburbs, Secret Harbour is lovely, my family came over at Xmas and fell in love with it! There are some really good home and build deals going on there too!
As for Judo, the Aqua jetty has a judo club and that is in warnbro, near Port Kennedy.
You will prob rent when you come anyway so this will give you some insight into the areas. DONT be put off, I love it here and there is very little trouble, I do think that sometimes when something does happen it is blown out of all proportion cos things rarely happen here! Its nothing like the UK believe me.
Good Luck and dont be put off, get here and suss it out for urself!!

A friend of mine has just moved there from Cape Town and she loves everything about the area. She says that she has no intentions of ever moving to another place.
They apparently leave their house and car unlocked most nights (handy to know if you need household furniture lol) and have yet to face any problems. They have been there for nearly a year now.
Location: Selby, North Yorkshire hoping to be going to Perth

My Mood:
Mandurah is a lovely place - my brother moved out there last July and we went over to visit at Christmas. Fell in love with the place and hoping to move out there myself. Secret Harbour/Meadow Springs are great places. Would definitely recommend going there.
Hello! I have recently moved to Mandurah with my family (Ian:40, Sam:17, Sarah 14) and we absolutely love it! There are so many opportunities for families. However, through our experience from the past year we've been here, there are no drugs and alcohal problems- no need to worry. The only problem is for my 14 year old, Sarah. We moved her out of an excellent school in Bournemouth, Dorset back in England and we regret it quite a lot. She is at a fairly decent school now in Como, but she says the standards are no where near as good as in England.
But in general, it's a great opportunity moving over to Perth and we don't regret it one bit!
Good Luck for the future, you won't regret moving here!
