Boy dies on school trip.. (My son's School)

Sorry for such a sad thread, but I thought this worth a mention.

A boy from my son's school had a fatal accident on a school trip yesterday.

The poor thing lost his footing and fell and broke his neck. Although he was in the same year as my boy Bradley, he did not know him.

I cannot imagine how his poor parents feel, I feel bad enough just knowing that he was from around this way and only 12 years old. It brings it home to you just how precious our children are to us. You don't expect to send your child on a trip for them never to return.

Very sad indeed.

April

Unhappy

Oh that's soooo sad April it does really bring it home to you stuff like that and it's just every parents worse nightmare isn't it?

We have boys aged 10 and 8 and I don't think I'll ever feel happy letting them go anywhere without me, before even reading things like that! You just can't imagine how his poor parents feel and how you cope with something like that.

We just have to count our blessings every minute of every day how lucky we are and think about what our children mean to us.

What sort of trip was it and where did they go?

Donna x

Hi Donna,

The trip was to Austria, mountain climbing! Not sure about anything else, only that he wandered off with a couple of friends and fell 30ft off a ledge.

It has been on the local news, but that is all they have said.

Thanks to you and Tracy for your replies.

April

that is the most tragic thing i have ever heard. my thoughts and heart gp out to his family. My son is 10 nearly 11. i couldnt ever imagine him going on a school trip and never seeing him again,it would break my heart and soul(im crying now typing this).it is so sad that something that would have been so exciting for the youngsters ended in tragedy.

Oh how awful, how you can ever get over a tragic event like that?
There must be so much anquish and pain right now, I work in a special school and from personal experience we as staff find it incredicably difficult when we suffer the loss of a pupil each and every time. A chid is such a precious gift, irreplacable i'm sure all our thoughts and prayers go out to all feeling this great loss. xxx

Its so very sad, The death of a child effects so many people in so many ways. it is very hard for those stood on the side lines looking on.
Most people will be plagued with guilt and an over whelming feeling to somehow get involved, especially when your child is the same age.
Chin up mrs C, and trust me a card or message will be appreciated even if you never new him.

Thanks for the kind words, I am sure that the school will be smothered in flowers and cards tomorrow, even though it will be closed.
