Anyone got any recommendations on who to fly with? We have two little boys, 8 and 3 and a half, so lots of room, some decent entertainment etc., is required! If anyone has any advice, recommendations of experiences to share, let's hear them. You've all been wonderful in the past, so go for it, guys.
done two return flights to aus. one was with Air New Zealand. was impressed with the seats - they seemed bigger than others. second time was with QANTAS. not too bad. usually been quite lucky and had an exit seat for at least part of the leg.
next flight is with malaysian and have never used them before - so no idea. (but it is business class so reckon it should be ok!)

My Mood:
Hi Andrea
I have only experienced Singapore and Emirates for this journey and would recommend them both.
People with young children, particularly under 1-2yrs have priority for the bulkhead seats which have room in front for the children to get down and play on the floor, so make sure you request these seats when checking in, pref online or by phone.
Having said that we have just flown back with Emirates the first leg of 14hrs was on an Airbus 340-300 and the leg room was less than we have experienced before, I have just looked on seat guru and it was only 31" instead of 32" or 33" on thier other aircraft. The second leg of 8hrs was on a 777 with more leg room and better entertainment.
I find the food good, I have a wheat free diet and my daughter is veggie, but the men don't complain much, well maybe about the amount of salad and fruit - a little too healthy for them! they feed the children first and they get a toy.
hope this helps

I swear by Emirates. Used them every time and they are fantastic - especially for kids! Register with skywards with them and you can save the air miles. We got an upgrade into business class last time using our air miles and that was absolute heaven!! All their flights go via Dubai, which is great to so a bit of shopping half way through! I also found that Emirates were probably one of the cheapest too, which is a big factor! Hundreds of tv programmes, films, radio, cartoons. Probably one of the best airlines for entertainment. Kids packs that you get are top notch aswell.
Good luck in your search.

I have no comment about Emirates because no one in my family has ever used them.
My own money is on Singapore Airlines, first last and always. One way and another, we've tried them all except for Emirates and the new airline Etihad. Singapore go the extra mile for the passeger every time. The others do not in our own experience. For consistency of quality, I don't think Singapore can be beaten.
glad to hear that you recommend singapore because we are using them next month,i do have a question about stopovers though:do you need a visa for the country that you stop in because we will be stopping in singapore for 8.5 hours and i haven't got a clue if i need another visa thanks,

We are flying with singapore airlines who have just won another award for one of the best airlines again.
What i would like to give information about whilst calling the airlines Emirates offered a day room when flying via dubia to australia due to the next flight would be 8hrs later - what they did confirm though is if your stay in dubia airport is longer than 2-3hrs you are NOT allowed double baggage allowance (40k) only 20k.
So please becareful when booking flights, after all the telephone calls we decied to go for the best flight with singapore airlines it only worked out around £200 - £300 more.
When searching on the internet we came across a company called DialAFlight which some friends confirmed are a really helpful company and I must say there have been and got us the best flights with only 3hr wait in singapore along with window seats, etc

Hi Wendy
No worries. Brits do not need visas for a short, non-work visit to Sigapore or Malaysia.

Hiya we have flown into brizzy a few times on different airlines. WE look at how long a stop over you have to have on the way, and also what time the plane takes off from the UK.
Most planes leave at lunchtime from the uk and fly for about 12 hours to asia. Now if you are taking off at 12 you are not going to be ready to sleep until you are about to land. Thats why we prefer to get the late flight out of the UK so after a meal and a movie you are ready for a bit of shut eye.
Both Malaysian and Singapore airline have TV screens in the back of the seat in front and they have comuter games that the kids can play on them. keeps them quiet for a while.
Last time we flew we went Malaysian and it was great, KL is a very nice airport, the food on the plane was good and generally service was top class.
This time we are flying Singapore airlines because 1) cost, 2) arrival time in Brisbane, 3) you can sign up to there flyer program before you book, and then once you book via their web site (no 2% surcharge for using your credit card) you can log staight on and choose your seats.
So you can put the kids at the back and you near the front...lol.
hope this helps

3rd April 08 removal men are here, now we have 3 weeks with a matress on the floor.
Etihad have shown some good one-way tickets recently, has anybody used them? 1 way business class to Brisbane around 1400 pounds. At 6'2" I am really not comfortable in economy unless its a bulkhead seat. I dont really need a business class seat, the economy plus ones are generally enough. However 1 way BA econ+ is more than 1 way Etihad business, about the same a a cheap Econ+ return.
