Many thanks for all the help on here re: de facto visa. We will be applying for Andy's soon - I was born in AUSTRALIA. One thing I am not sure of though, we are frontloading application, do we need police checks done for Andy only or do I have to have them done as well? Probably a daft question but it is not clear anywhere!It's the only thing I am unsure of.
Gosh no medical and no interview? Do they still do interviews these days? Mine was pretty quick but we had to have an interview where they grilled DH about how he was going to support "this woman" and they asked me just one question - "have you ever been in an institution for the criminally insane?" . As we had been married 5 years and had a 6 month old baby at the time and had our tickets booked for 2 weeks after (they did freak out because I was a tad late at applying for a visa, too busy selling house and packing up) it was just as well they were able to get their finger out!

Hi,
If you have dual nationality like myself then you only need the police check for your partner.

Oh dear, I did not realise that - So I (UK applicant) need medicals and police check and my OH (Oz citizen sponsor) also needs a police check?? Oh bum!!

That's great Lauren- thanks for your help! Off to PERTH in couple of weeks to check it out (interested in Bunbury and surrounding areas) then once houses sold move in with parents then eventually go to OZ November!
