Congratulations!

I sent my spouse application off last saturday and would love to see your answers to Ness's questions. Could you post them on here or PM me too please? I'm dying to hear something - not even sure whether they have received my application yet. Thanks for any info/advice that you may give me!

Lucia

Congratulations! That's a super fast visa grant. I too would love to hear how you managed this as I am new to POI and soon going to be putting in application for spouse (de facto) visa. Did you send meds & police check etc all off together at the start and what do the meds involve out of interest? How long do you now get before you have to be there? My main worry is that if i put in the application too soon it may get granted when i'm not ready to go (assuming it's granted at all! - live in hope). What part of Oz are you planning on settling in?
Enjoy celebrating!

It's good to hear the process can be straightforward sometimes!

Hi Ness,

I'll help as much as I can.

We have been married for 11 years and have 2 kids so I think ours was quiet straight forward thats why it was so quick. I sent loads of evidence though.

Bank/Mortgage statements back to our 1st house together in 1995, copies of our wills made in 1997, a few holiday/flight tickets. I probably sent too much but I would rather that than have had them asking for more. I got 2 certified stat decs from english people as we dont know anybody oz...yet!!! Hubby and i wrote war and peace statements about our relationship...really cheesy stuff (the bloke who read our application was probably peeing his pants at them)

It seems very daunting at the start but if you work through the forms and cheklists it all comes together eventually.

Feel free to ask anything I'm no expert but if I can do it anyone can....saved a fortune by not using an agent too.

Take Care

Lauren x

ps. we front loaded meds and pc so that porbably helped make it so quick too.

Hi,

I'm more than happy to help - I had loads of q's to when I 1st started and plenty of peeps helped me along the way.

We did a relationship statement each....right back to when/where we 1st met and dates/places of any significant events eg getting moving in together getting engaged falling preggers holidays etc. How our rel works now eg hubby main breadwinner so I look after house kids etc or if you both work how you support one another bringing up kids and stuff. Just make sure dates tally up.

You dont need to get all evidence certified just the copies of siginificant documents eg passports, birth/nmarriage certs. the other copies eg bank statements and stuff dont need certifying.

If you want anything back just put a sae in and the will send you any originals back.

They dont want original photos so do colour photocopies.

We are going to Melbourne for a reccie in April and hubby has a couple of job interviews lined up so we will make a decision on when to make the move based on the results of these - we think Jan 09 now.

We dont know a soul yet although am hopefully going to meet up the the lovely Felicity (the broughtons) and her hubby from this site when we are there as we have pm'd a few times and they used to leave near us in the UK. I have also met another lovely family from this site who is moving to Melbourne so hopefully we will keep in touch with them so that will be a few friendly faces once we make the move.

Hope you dont mind but a couple of other people have asked if I can post these replies on the thread so if I can work out how I am going to copy and paste to save typing it out again.

I am also going to post a link to a thread that I came across when I 1st started that has some really useful info in.

Take Care

Lauren

We didnt hear anything until the email saying he had got it. i was checking his email every hour for a week .

i did check my credit card statement online though and could see that they had taken the money a day after they received the app. Did you send it sepcial delivery as you can track in online so you know they have received it?

Got his passport back today with the visa sticker - its a great feeling

Good luck

Lauren

Lolly,
Thank you so much for this reply. The info is really really helpful and the web link to Georgina's post is excellent - i am now forwarned about things I didn't know would be an issue! Hopefully can make a good job of putting my application together now but suspect the turnaround will still be a little longer than your 1 week!
Many thanks.

Hi Lauren,

I just wanted to say congratulaions to you and your husband on getting the Spouse Visa. It is a brilliant feeling isn't it? My Spouse visa took a couple of months, but that is because I have children from a previous marriage. We had a few complications but the visa was granted a few weeks ago!

I am so pleased to hear that your application only took a week! That is fab.

Good luck for your new life Down Under when you get there.

April

The Royal Mail website seems to be down at the mo, so i've signed up for online credit card statements and like you, they've taken payment for the visa a day after it was received! I'm assuming it arrived last Tuesday as the lady in the post office said it would leave the office on monday - oooh, very excited!
